Brighter Shores Factions What are they & How to change (2)

Brighter Shores is a new MMORPG, currently available in Early Access. While it is still early days for the game, it’s already drawing in a large player base eager to explore its magical world. If you’ve clicked on this article, it is clear that you’re checking out the game too and are curious about one of its core aspects—factions. How many factions are there? What does each one offer? And how can you switch between them? We’ll answer all those questions, so stick around for the details!

If you are completely new to MMORPGs, factions or a similar concept in these games represent distinct groups, alliances, or ideologies within the game world, each with its own stats, combat style, quests, etc. Choosing a faction often influences your character’s progression, relationships with NPCs, access to certain areas, and obviously, the gameplay style. So, knowing about factions before you commit can help you choose the one that best suits your playstyle and goals.

So here is the deal: in Brighter Shores, there aren’t a lot of factions to choose from—at the time of writing, there are just three. When you start the game, you will start as a guard, and this is true for all new players. Then, as you progress a bit further, you have the option to branch out as a Cryoknight, Guardian, or Hammermage, each bringing its own strengths and style to the battlefield.

Factions

  • Guardian: It is the game’s version of the “ranged” class. So obviously, this faction favors weapons like crossbows to keep enemies at a distance. They are adept in Arborae magic, a nature-based form of magic that imbues their weapons and armor, which are primarily crafted from bone. This ability with Arborae magic gives Guardians an edge in battle, dealing Arborae-type damage that can wear down opponents over time. They excel in encounters against Hammermages but are at a disadvantage when facing Cryoknights.
  • Cryoknight: The Cryoknight faction is your typical heavy/tank builds you see in MMORPGs. If you too like to hack and slash your way with melee combat, wielding swords and shields to beat up enemies up close, this is the faction for you! Specializing in brute strength and defensive maneuvers, Cryoknights have a combat style that counters ranged foes like Guardians. However, they are vulnerable to the mixed melee and magic attacks of Hammermages.
  • Hammermage: Finally, we have Hammermages, which is a sort of mix of both Guardian and Cryoknights. When you pick this faction, you will be using a mix of both melee and magic skills during combat. Hammermage, the name itself is a clue of mixture, blending melee prowess with Tempestae magic and elemental lightning with the durability of stone gear. Equipped with hammers, Hammermages can hand out powerful strikes enhanced by their magic, giving them an edge against Cryoknights, although they are susceptible to the ranged attacks of Guardians.

How to change Factions?

Currently, changing factions in Brighter Shores isn’t an option. The developers haven’t suggested any plans to add this feature, but players have expressed a need for more flexibility, such as faction-changing or ways to mitigate its absence, like XP boosts or cross-faction skill access. Since the game is still in Early Access, there’s hope that with enough player feedback, the developers might introduce changes to make faction selection less rigid by the full release. For now, however, your initial choice of faction is a fixed decision in Brighter Shores. To change it, you will have to start from scratch again.

Well, that is all we have to share regarding what factions are in Brighter Shores and how to change them. We hope this was informative. Now for similar gaming content like this, keep a tab on DigiStatement. Also, click here to find out how to get bronze in Sengoku Dynasty.
