Imagine floating in space in a spacesuit, gun in hand, and trying to shoot someone. Wouldn’t that be so cool? Trying to aim accurately as you struggle against the powers of mother space herself. Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore. Developer Studio Surgical Scalpels has created exactly the type of game that we described just now. Reviews around the game stand at “mostly positive” on Steam. Boundary as it’s called, launched on Steam just a few days ago on the 13th of April. This multiplayer space shooter is already raking in players, having achieved over 20K all-time peak according to SteamDB. Fun as it is, being such a new game also comes with its own set of problems. One of them that is troubling players is the absence of an option that lets them rebind their ping key.
Boundary is a Steam Early Access title, meaning the devs are still polishing the game. Studio Surgical Scalpels have clarified on their Steam Early Access page that the game will remain an Early Access title for about six to twelve months. However, that estimate depends on various factors. Curious players can hop on to Steam and try the game if they want. And for those players who are already playing but have been looking to rebind the ping key, here’s a workaround for you.
Boundary Game: How to Rebind Ping Key
Since there is no in-game option to rebind the ping key, you will have to access the config file and do it manually. So, for this, open File Explorer and head to the directory of the game’s config file. Usually, it is stored in this path directory – AppData\Local\ProjectBoundary\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\Input.ini. Now, access the Input.ini file, and open it with Notepad. You will now need to edit the line –
To rebind the ping function to the middle mouse click, you should enter the following –
Remember, you just need to edit the “Key” command. Pinging is an important feature in multiplayer FPS games, so it is understandable that players are frustrated that they have to go through such hoops to rebind the ping key. But the game is very new, so players need to understand that too. We are sure that in time, the devs will introduce the key rebinding feature for ping in the game. We will update this article again when the devs officially release such an update for the game. In the meantime, don’t forget to checkout DigiStatement to get the latest news in the world of gaming.
