Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (We Can’t Study) chapter 137 summary :
Title: Sometimes, The Maidens’ Sweet Thoughts Links to “X”
During the usual Study session, Uruka asked Nariyuki what kind of chocolate he likes, which prompted the attention of Fumino and Rizu. Nariyuki replied that he generally loves sweets (because it’s good for brain), but has a fondness for pocket chocolate as they can be easily bought cheap, and has a variety of flavors. Fumino had several in hand, and gave one to Nariyuki. Nariyuki was delighted to get one.
Nariyuki, seeing the incapable girls being awfully high-spirited, believed that they’re merely being very focused in their studies, and was happy about it. And while studying is important to them, the real reason why they’re so high-spirited is that they’re planning to make chocolate at Uruka’s place.
As the incapable girls made chocolate, Uruka remembered her Valentine’s Day around 2nd year of Junior High. Uruka wanted to hand Nariyuki her chocolate, but because she put tons of effort in making it, it seemed like it was True Love Chocolate. Hesitated due to her fear of being rejected, she never gave Nariyuki chocolate for 5 years straight. This time, she planned to make a pretty normal chocolate, but without realizing it, Uruka made yet another one that seemed like a true love chocolate.
Meanwhile, Rizu, who had the idea of how the ultimate cuisine = udon, likened the making process to making udon, and failed miserably. While Fumino’s… goes without saying how she did. The two asked Uruka for help, but being how bad of a teacher Uruka is, they couldn’t use her example to make chocolate.
Rizu asked Fumino and Uruka who they are going to give the chocolate to, and the two replied that they’re giving them to their friends to disguise their intention. Rizu flat out stated that she plans to give Nariyuki chocolate, and finds it weird that they aren’t planning to give Nariyuki any, despite how much he helped them. The two, of course, said that they planned to give him some, as friends.
While they talked about Nariyuki, Fumino and Rizu saw the Junior High Yearbook, and were very excited to see Nariyuki back then. Rizu found it interesting that only Nariyuki’s page felt worn out. Uruka brushed it off, saying that it’s all just a coincident. Uruka then continued that Nariyuki used to be an even bigger study freak back then that he wouldn’t play at all during their school trip. Fumino said that she would’ve wanted to enjoy their school trip back on their trip during 2nd year of high school. Uruka then suggested that they should go have a graduation trip.
Rizu, who called Uruka dirty to have that yearbook, tried to exchange for Uruka’s yearbook with her udon. Naturally, Uruka refused. Later, Uruka felt it could be dangerous when the Rizu suggested that Nariyuki should come, too. Fumino followed up that it’ll be fine, seeing that Nariyuki is a gentleman. Rizu wondered how Fumino knew about it.
And so, the three carefully looked at the recipe, and along with making the most out of the udon making technique, they cut no corners in making their chocolate. The three followed Nariyuki’s example, and helped each other to make them.
On Valentine’s day, the male background characters are on their toes in hoping to get chocolate from girls. Uruka, however, was so on her toes that she was actually floating. Uruka wanted to be the first person to give chocolate to Nariyuki, but seeing Nariyuki is already walking in with tons of chocolate, Uruka was in shock…
