Blue Prince Game Save File Location Where is it

If you’ve wandered the twisting halls of Mt. Holly in Blue Prince, you know it’s a game full of secrets, shifting rooms, and mind-bending choices. With each run feeling like a puzzle box wrapped in a mystery, it’s no surprise you might want to back up your in-game progress, dig into save files for troubleshooting, or even experiment a little. Whether you’re chasing the elusive Room 46 or just trying to protect your precious estate upgrades from a rogue reset, knowing where the game tucks away its save files can be helpful without a doubt. So, here’s our guide featuring all the details regarding where to find the save game files of Blue Prince.

Many players like yourself are trying to transfer their Blue Prince save file from the Windows Game Pass version to the Steam version but are running into trouble locating where the Steam version stores its save data. They’ve successfully done similar transfers before with other Game Pass titles, but the specific save file path for the Steam release of Blue Prince remains unclear. Well, you have landed on the right page since we will be telling you exactly where to find these precious files!

Blue Prince Game Save File Location: Where is it

Some tweaky players have tried locating the saved files, unfortunately, the save transfer didn’t work as hoped. One player found a ~150KB file in the Game Pass save location and attempted to rename it to match the Steam version’s .es3 format, but the game didn’t recognize it. Anyway, here is where the saved files are located.

Save Game File Location

  • Open File Explorer: Press Win + E to open File Explorer. You can also click the folder icon on your taskbar to open the same.
  • Show Hidden Files and Folders (If Not Enabled): In File Explorer, click on the “View” tab at the top. Then click “Show” > “Hidden items”. This is important because the AppData folder is hidden by default.
  • Follow this path: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\LocalLow\Dogubomb\BluePrince\storage\
    • Replace [YourUsername] with your actual Windows user account name. You can also copy and paste this path into the address bar and press Enter.
  • Look for the Save File: Inside the storage folder, you’ll find the file: MtHollyBlueprint.es3. This is your actual Blue Prince save file on Steam.

The Steam version stores saves in AppData\LocalLow\Dogubomb\BluePrince, while the Game Pass version uses %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages, buried within game-specific folders.

Other Platforms?

The Blue Prince save file location differs depending on the platform. For the Microsoft Store (Game Pass) version, the save is typically found under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\RawFury.BluePrince_9s0pnehqffj7t\SystemAppData\wgs\, though the exact subfolder may vary. For Linux users running the Steam version via Proton (Steam Play), the path is usually <SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/1569580/pfx/, with further navigation needed depending on the Proton setup.

Well, you should now be able to locate the saved game files and do what you will with them. Take a backup, use it during troubleshooting, or transfer it to another device; the choice is truly yours!
