Ninja Kiwi’s Bloons TD 6 can be considered one of the best games in the Tower Defense genre. Serving as the sequel to 2011’s Bloons TD 5, the sixth entry of the mainline series was released back in 2018 for Android, iOS, and Windows. Ports for other platforms started to launch in the following years, with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S being the latest to get BTD6 on September 5, 2023. Suffice it to say, when it comes to the Tower Defense genre, Bloons TD6 reigns supreme. Unfortunately, it seems that some players have been losing their progress on Steam, making it hard to continue playing. So, if you too are encountering a similar problem, consider reading this guide regarding the same.
There could be a lot of reasons why BTD6 players are losing their progress on Steam. Anything from the game having some missing files to Steam Cloud saves not being enabled could be a probable cause. So, is there any fix to this?
Bloons TD 6 lost progress issue on Steam: Is it fixable?
Since there’s no official workaround for this issue, players will have to make do with the following workarounds. So, follow these and see if any of them are of help to you:
Select Steam in the in-game Settings –
The very first thing that we recommend you do is open BTD6 and then head to Settings. From there, click on Account > Steam. Now, all you need to do is select your Steam account, and you will get your progress back. Now, as you can see, you need to have linked your Steam account beforehand for this workaround to work. If you haven’t, then switch to another workaround.
Log in to your Kiwi account –
If you have your account connected to Kiwi, then we suggest you use this method. Basically, you can follow the previous method’s steps until you reach the Account section. From there, instead of selecting Steam, click on Kiwi and log in to your Ninja Kiwi account. Additionally, you can also click on “I’ve Played Before”, and then log in to your Steam account.
Check if you’ve enabled Steam Cloud saves –
If you have disabled Steam Cloud saves, then that would lead to this issue. As such, you should go and check whether the feature is enabled or not. To do that, just open Steam, and then from your Steam Library, right-click on BTD6. Next, select Properties and switch to the General tab. Now, see if the Keep games Saves in the Steam Cloud for Bloons TD 6 is check-marked or not. If it isn’t, checkmark it.
Repair files –
You can also try repairing the game’s files and see if that helps. Something like the game having some missing or corrupted files can also be a cause behind this issue, and in such cases, repairing files helps. Now, if you don’t know how to do that, just:
- Open Steam and then click on Library.
- Now, find BTD6 and right-click on it.
- Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
Contact support –
Ninja Kiwi is really great when it comes to helping players with issues like this one. As such, if you are still unable to get back your lost progress, we highly recommend that you go ahead and contact support. You can do that by clicking the in-game “Contact Support” feature, as stated here.
