Soulslike-inspired 2-D platformer Blasphemous 2 has finally landed on all major platforms starting August 24, 2023. Developed by The Game Kitchen, the sequel once again takes us on a journey with The Penitent One, who is now awakened and has found himself in a strange new land. There are new areas to be discovered, tough enemies to defeat, and a final judgment to be landed on. However, it seems like this journey has come to a standstill for some because of certain in-game issues. This guide will deal with the “keybinding not working” issue in Blasphemous 2. So, if you have encountered it as well, consider reading this guide until the end.
The problem is, as the name of the issue suggests. Due to an unknown bug, the game’s keybinding feature doesn’t work as intended, leading to players being unable to perform any kind of action. This issue occurs when players try to bind an action to their mouse instead of the keyboard. As you can see, this in particular is a major issue and needs to be fixed immediately. So, is there any workaround for it? Let’s find out!
Blasphemous 2 Keybinding Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Well, as of now, the developers are yet to fix this issue. However, one good thing is that the issue is known to them, so expect a fix to be released soon. Also, the developer team hasn’t given any release date for the update, so until an official fix is released, you can try the following workarounds:
Use mouse binding apps –
A Reddit user was able to deal with this issue by simply using an external mouse-binding app. Install applications like Mouse Manager, and then assign your mouse’s right and left clicks to any keyboard buttons. After this, change the in-game keybind for a particular action to that particular keyboard key, which can now be accessed by simply clicking on the mouse. However, if you are still encountering this problem, then try the next method.
Unplug and replug your accessories –
This is a very obvious one, but if you still haven’t tried it, then do so. By following this method, you can correctly gauge if the problem lies with the hardware or the software. So, make sure that you replug every accessory on your device, and then try changing the in-game keybinds. If the issue still persists, then move on to the next workaround.
Switch or use another accessory –
If you have an extra keyboard and mouse lying around, then we recommend that you unplug the ones you are currently using and use the new ones. This is also another way of checking where the issue lies. Plus, if the new ones start functioning normally, that itself is good news.
Repair game –
Sometimes a missing or corrupted game file could also lead to players facing this type of problem. Thankfully, there’s a way to deal with that. Simply open Steam and then head straight to the Library. From there, find Blasphemous 2 and right-click on it to select Properties. Then click on Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files. Now, let Steam do the rest.
Redownload the game –
If nothing else works, then redownloading is the last option here. Save your progress before you proceed with this method, though. You can do that by either saving your progress on the cloud or via a local save. Once you have done that, uninstall the game and then promptly start a re-download. After the game is installed, open it and see if the issue is still there.
