Best The Planet Crafter Steam Deck Settings for high FPS & performance

So you have been terraforming a barren planet, trying to transform it into a paradise you have in mind. Yes, we are talking about The Planet Crafter! With its on-the-go support and positive reviews, many players like yourself have been enjoying it on the go using the Steam Deck. Now, with the game installed and running on your Deck, the next thing you need to get the best experience is to optimize your settings for high FPS and smooth performance. But how do you do that? What settings do you tweak that are actually going to make a difference? Well, in this guide, we’ll walk you through the best settings to make sure The Planet Crafter runs flawlessly on your Steam Deck.

Optimizing settings is absolutely crucial when playing The Planet Crafter or any game for that matter, on the Steam Deck. Given the Steam Deck’s portable nature, you will want to maximize both performance and battery life. The right settings can help you achieve higher FPS, reduce stuttering, and prevent crashes, all of which will let you play the game without interruptions. It is all about fine-tuning the settings so that the game looks great while running efficiently, making your survival and terraforming tasks more enjoyable and less frustrating.

Accessing the graphics settings in The Planet Crafter on Steam Deck is as simple as it can get. All you have to do is pause the game, navigate to the Options menu, and click on the “Graphics” tab located at the top right corner. Once there, you can make the following changes to optimize the FPS and performance:

Best Settings

  • Display Mode: Fullscreen Windowed (or Fullscreen Exclusive)
  • Resolution: 1280 x 720
  • Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
  • V–Sync: On
  • Graphics Quality: Medium
  • Brightness: Around 2/3
  • Field of View: 60
  • Screen Shake Intensity: 50-100

Note: Features like the screen shake intensity do not have much impact on the FPS and performance, except for the time when there might be some heavy asteroid bombardments on the planet you are exploring. At that time, the screen shaking can get a tad out of hand and affect the FPS. So, try different values and see which one works out the best for you.

Additional Tips:

Turn off V-Sync if you want to experiment with different frame rates. If you decide to turn off VSync, you get an option to choose the Target Frame Rate in the graphics settings. You can set it to any value but we recommend sticking to 60 FPS. Also, for the overall graphics preset, avoid High or Ultra settings, as they can cause frame rate dips to the mid-50s or lower, without significant visual improvement. Finally, for even better performance, you can take advantage of compatibility tools like Proton Experimental.

With these settings and tips, you should be able to play the game with decent graphics and smooth 50-60FPS on your Steam Deck.
