With Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 already released, fighting game fans are now eagerly waiting for the launch of the next Tekken game. Meanwhile, Tekken 7 has been keeping fans entertained for a long time. Originally released back in 2015, the game can be played on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and, of course, Arcade. While the game is certainly fun to play on those platforms, many in the community are quite eager to play it on the Steam Deck. And of course, we are going to help you with that.
It’s now a well-known fact that the Steam Deck has become quite a popular choice for those who want to enter the world of handheld gaming. Valve’s little handheld saw its release in 2022 and from then on, it quickly established itself as one of the go-to devices as a PC handheld. And it’s all thanks to Valve’s amazing support for the device. Right now, the Steam Deck has an increasing list of Deck-verified titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and many more. But unfortunately, Tekken 7 isn’t one of them. Currently, Tekken 7’s status is playable on the Steam Deck. And while the game is playable, its performance might not be to your liking. That’s why it’s better to know the best possible settings for the game in order to get high fps and performance. Well, this guide features all the details on the same.
Best Tekken 7 Steam Deck Settings for High FPS & performance
First of all, we highly recommend that you update your SteamOS and the game itself. Once these things are done, follow the settings mentioned below:
Use Proton GE or Experimental
Most players recommend that you either use Proton GE or Proton Experimental for running the game. Other Proton versions might work, but the previously mentioned two are considered the best. After that, launch the game, head over to the in-game settings menu, and open Graphics Settings. Now, apply the settings as shared:
- Screen Mode: Full Screen
- Resolution: 1280 x 800
- V-Sync: Off
- Measure/Display FPS: Off
- Rendering Quality Preset: Custom
- Rendering Scale: 90
- Anti-Aliasing: Low
- Shadow Settings: Medium
- Texture Quality: Medium/High
- Effect Quality: High
- Post-Processing Quality: Low
- Dynamic Adjustment: Off
If you are willing to sacrifice graphics for more performance, set the resolution to 1152 x 720. Do note that Tekken 7’s aspect ratio is 16:10, so switching to Window Mode might help if the game refuses to run properly in Full Screen. We also recommend using the following launch option if you encounter crashes: “PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%”.
Now, if you want your Steam Deck to last longer while playing the game, you can run it at 60FPS with TDP set to 5W. Furthermore, set all settings to Low and the rendering scale to 100%. Lastly, we recommend you set up and install CryoUtilities in order to use its recommended settings for the Steam Deck. Here’s a guide on the same.
And that’s how you get the best performance in Tekken 7 on the Steam Deck. Additionally, if you want to know how to delete Tekken 7’s save data on your PC, check out this guide.
