Baldur’s Gate 3 is all the news these days in the gaming world. Developed and published by Larian Studios, the game was officially released on August 3, 2023, for Windows after being in early access for three years. A lot of work was done over those three years, and the final product shows the love and dedication the studio put into the game. BG3 is a massive success for Larian and a welcome addition to the Baldur’s Gate series. Like its predecessor, BG3 is too filled with quests, puzzles, secrets, items, and whatnot. And in this guide, we will be sharing details on how to get the Rune of the Wolf item in Baldur’s Gate 3.
It can be tough for some players to locate or find certain items in BG3’s expansive world. This is what guides are for. To help you get what you couldn’t before. So, here’s one explaining how to get, find, and use the Rune of the Wolf in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Rune of the Wolf: How to get, find, & use
There are several ways to get the Rune of the Wolf in Baldur’s Gate 3. And every path leads to one NPC named Rath. He is the one who holds the Rune of the Wolf and as such, you will need to deal with him to get the rune. You can find him in the main room of Emerald Grove. Now, as we stated earlier, you can get the rune through a myriad of ways, and all of them are explained below.
Kill Rath
Although this is the most obvious way to get the rune, we generally don’t recommend it since the fight against Rath will be tough, and even if you manage to kill him, you are now up against all the druids in that area. So, we suggest you try either of the next two methods.
Pick Pocket
Since the Rune of the Wolf is with Rath, you can use your pickpocketing skills to steal it from him. However, for that to happen, you will need to use the abilities of a companion or character with high stealth or someone who excels at this particular ability. Usually, the rogue class is best suited for stealth since they are tailor-made for such tasks. Now, if you do manage to steal the Rune from Rath, you should order your companion or character to run away so that Rath doesn’t start suspecting you. You can safely return after a while.
Save Halsin
Of all three options, this one is the best for players who want to be “good guy”, save the Grove people, and whatnot. Additionally, by opting for this method, you have the chance to recruit the Druid Halsin into your party. But for that, you will need to rescue him first from the three Goblin leaders. Once you defeat them, you can free Halsin, after which all you need to do is go to the Emerald Grove, meet with Rath there, and he will give you the Rune of the Wolf. Suffice it to say, this is arguably the safest option out of the three.
Using the Rune
The Rune of the Wolf is used to complete the Runic Statue located in Emerald Grove. To find the Runic Statue, go speak to Nettie at the Druid Chamber in Emerald Grove. Initiate a conversation with her, and eventually, this will prompt Nettie to ask you to follow her to the Enclave Library. There, you will see a giant statue in the shape of a wolf. This statue is surrounded by four Pedestals, all filled except for one on the east. This is where you need to insert the Rune of the Wolf. Once you do that, touch the four pedestals in any order, and you will see the Wolf statue disappear, revealing a set of downward stairs leading to a vault.
In this newly discovered vault, the player will be rewarded with some amazing loot for their efforts. These rewards include a weapon named Sorrow, which comes with the Ensnaring Strike skill. Players will also obtain the Robe of Summer, which is capable of resisting cold damage. And finally, some good old potions.
