In this article, we will take a look at leaks surfacing online that seem to suggest that a sequel to Assetto Corsa is currently in development. We will also be analysing the authenticity of these leaks, to ensure that this is indeed authentic, and not just hearsay.
First, let’s take a look at where exactly these leaks are coming from. Assetto Corsa’s developer, 505 Games, is under the parent company of Digital Bros. Digital Bros recently held a quarter ending presentation, and the slides from it have leaked online. You can view the full presentation here. From the slides in this presentation, it seems clear that 505 Games is working on two more iterations in the Assetto Corsa franchise. First, there’s what is called an A Game. This is a game that uses a budget of 5 Million Euros at most. Presumably, this means that there is an adaptation of Assetto Corsa coming to phones and tablets very soon. This is great news since it means that we’ll now be able to enjoy one of the best racing simulators anytime and on the go using our mobile devices. Let’s hope that the reduced budget and hardware capabilities do not mean a complete loss of the spirit of Assetto Corsa. Additionally, a full-blown sequel to the game is also in the works, presumably for the next-gen and current-gen consoles. Since we have no idea what it could be titled as of now, we’ll just refer to it as Assetto Corsa 2. It is not a surprise that Digital Bros is placing such massive amounts of investment in this franchise. The original game was a massive hit, selling 12 million copies and earning $80 million in revenue. The sequel of the game has a release window in 2024, so don’t expect any announcements of reveals in the near future. It is however nice to know for sure that a sequel is indeed heading our way relatively soon.
