While Ark: Survival Ascended didn’t quite have a wonderful launch, the game is still getting loads and loads of new players with each passing day. It was certainly unfortunate to see Studio Wildcard sunset the official servers for Ark: Survival Evolved, but let’s just hope that the remake gets as much support as the original one. But before that, there are issues that players would prefer fixed ASAP. And one of those happens to be the Unable to Invite Friends issue that many have reported recently.
Currently, there are loads of issues with the friend invite system in Ark Survival Ascended. For some players, they are unable to find the invite option, while there are those who can’t join their friends on non-dedicated servers. It’s a major issue, which is why we have featured this guide sharing some effective workarounds on how to deal with it.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Unable to Invite Friends: Is there any fix yet
Since the root cause of this issue is not known, you will have to try the following workarounds to get rid of it. These are potential workarounds, so make sure to try all of them:
Allow the game through firewall –
One of the most common reasons for issues like this is the firewall blocking internet access and such. So, what you should do is make sure the game is allowed through the firewall. And to do that, you need to:
- Open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- In the new window, scroll down a bit and click on Allow an app through firewall.
- Now, click on Change settings at the top and select Yes when prompted for admin access.
- Next, find ASA in the list below and if it isn’t there, click on “Allow another app…” and add the game’s .exe file from its installation directory.
- After that, checkmark or tick both Private and Public options beside ASA.
- End the process by clicking Apply and OK.
Switch to public –
If you don’t see any option to invite friends on a private non-dedicated server, then what you should do is switch to public. Additionally, if you are worried about trolls and the like, just add Private to your server’s name and add an admin password to your server. Furthermore, don’t forget to turn on the PC-only gaming option on the server browser parameter.
Disable VPN –
If you happen to have a VPN turned on, we suggest you disable it and then try inviting friends. VPNs tend to slow down your connection speed, so maybe that’s why you are having this type of issue. Anyway, if the issue persists, switch to another workaround.
Check your router and port –
You can also try restarting your router, and if that doesn’t help, simply reset it. Additionally, you should also open your ports if you happen to be hosting a dedicated server. 7777, 7778, 27015, and TCP/UDP ports should be open and working. You can even try the following console command: “open [server ip]:[port]”. So, that command should resemble something like this: open 192.168.0.88:7777
Reinstall –
For some players, doing a fresh install of the game was what helped them fix this issue. So, if none of the aforementioned workarounds worked for you, then try this one. If even this doesn’t net any meaningful results, then the only other option left is to contact support.
Well, for now, that’s the extent of our knowledge on this topic. By the way, if you want to host a dedicated server for Ark Survival Ascended for free, check out this guide.
