ARK Survival Evolved has undergone a transformative journey into the next generation with ARK Survival Ascended, powered by Unreal Engine 5. This reimagined experience promises players a dazzling blend of cutting-edge technology, primeval creatures, and a vast open world to explore, craft, and conquer. Now, in this guide, we will be shifting our focus to the colossal Gigantoraptor. So, if you too have been trying to figure out their spawn locations and the taming methods, keep reading this guide till the end!
In the most recent update of ARK Survival Ascended, the game saw the inclusion of the majestic Gigantoraptor, a nurturing queen of the Late Cretaceous period. Despite its imposing size, it’s more of a caregiver than a fighter, fiercely protecting its brood with sharp claws. Though taming the adult Gigantoraptor is a challenge due to its resistant nature, bold survivors can win its trust by approaching its nests. Once tamed, this giant becomes a nurturing guardian, looking after your tribe’s young creatures, teaching them survival skills, and even helping you find orphaned baby animals in the wild.
ARK Survival Ascended (ASA) Gigantoraptor Taming Guide & Spawn location
Spawn Locations
The most frequently observed spawn locations for the Gigantoraptor are in the jungle areas, particularly in the bottom right part of the map. Notably, it has been observed that a higher concentration of Gigantoraptors is found around the green Obelisk. While it is possible that the raptor spawns in other jungle areas of the map (The Island), we would recommend that you keep your search confined to the bottom right area only for the best results. Hover the area on a flying creature you own and patiently scout the areas for gigantoraptor nests with a telescope. And if you don’t want to go through this patrol, you can opt for the easy way by using the “Dino Finder” mod, a tool that helps locate various creatures and dinos on the map.
How to Tame?
While you can use bait to lure the parents away from the nest to begin the taming minigame, there is a high chance that the bait won’t buy you enough time to finish the taming process. After which, your mission will be interrupted, possibly ending in a fight between you and the parent raptor. So, to avoid this hassle, we recommend using some sort of trap to keep the parents grounded while you finish taming the baby raptors. That being said, follow the steps below to tame the Gigantoraptor in ARK Survival Ascended.
- Preparation: Gather stone gateways and gates, or use a simple box trap. Optionally, wear Ghillie armor for protection. Locate Gigantoraptors in the jungle areas, particularly around the Redwoods or near the Green Obelisk.
- Parent Trapping: Place the trap close to the nests, ensuring it’s not too far from the parent. Lure the parent into the trap; they usually come with one parent, but be cautious if there are two. Adjust the gates if needed to ensure the parents are inside. During all of this, you have to make sure that you don’t end up killing the parents.
- Baby Nest Interaction: Locate the nest and choose the option to hide within it. Wait for the baby Gigantoraptor to approach you.
- Taming Mini-Game: The baby Gigantoraptor will prompt you to press a combination of three keys (emotes). The keys are random, and you need to press them before the baby finishes its emote cycle. The emotes include a bow, a spin, and a flap.
- Feeding and Care: Once tamed, feed your baby Gigantoraptor meat or berries. They can be nurtured and raised to adulthood, where they become valuable members of your tribe, defending and assisting in fights.
Tips
Lower-level Gigantoraptors may only require one emote for full taming. Higher-level ones or lower taming rates might need multiple correct emotes. Ghillie armor can be useful to prevent attacks from other creatures during the taming process.
With that, we hope that you were able to get hold of your first Gigantoraptor in the game. Anyway, for more gaming reads like this, make sure to stay tuned to DigiStatement. Read more: Nightingale: How to change server region?
