But Asta chose not to fight with him initially, calling him a ‘good’ devil. We dive into the history of Liebe and find out that he is an aberrant devil born with no magic and wants to destroy Lucifero & others. This chapter is the fight between Asta and Liebe. Black Clover Chapter 269 Spoilers
Liebe’s and Asta’s goals aligned themselves in a strange. I reiterate that this relationship reminds of Kurama and Naruto. Black Clover Chapter 269 is the title: The boy who cannot use magic.
The chapter starts with a dialogue between Asta and Liebe. Asta tells him that we both are fighting for the same goal. It is better to form an alliance. Liebe mocks Asta by calling him a boy with no magic and only 1 hand. ‘What can Asta do?’ But Asta shows confidence in his body. The panel shows the well-toned, trained muscles of Asta. As we know the Asta is one of the typical Shonen Protagonist that never gives up. Asta draws Yami’s sword and for a second the essence of Yami can be seen in Asta. Liebe calls the sword useless without his power. All the more mocking and calling Asta incapable of doing anything. (from years of reading manga, you never tell Shonen protagonists to give up) The Anti-Magic Devil tells Asta that he has suffered inside the 5 leaf grimoire. It was a void and his hatred for the devils got compounded in there. He also became stronger due to Licita’s magic.
Liebe says that Asta was just a way to get back in the world. He cannot lose this tenacity to kill. Then we shift to the narration point of Nacht. Who explains to Liebe that Asta is an extraordinary boy. He has been pushing himself to the limits with no magic. Fighting with top-class mages, alone. It was through this hard work, training and no fear of failure that he was granted something more. And we see Asta stabbing Liebe with Yami’s sword.
