While players are still busy in the Bunny Day Easter Egg event, another event has been announced. The event is called Fishing Tourney, the CJ’s Fishin Tournament, and it will be held on 2nd Saturday of months of January, April, July, and October from 9am to 6pm. The entry costs 500 bells, but for the first time, it is free.

What Is CJ’s Fishing Tournament (Fishing Tourney)
The event is an all-day tournament that CJ runs where you need to catch as many as fish within the time period. The event will be held 5 times i.e., 2nd Saturday of April 2020, July 2020, October 2020, and January 2021. So, it is an ample opportunity to get fish related items and make more money. CJ will also appear randomly on your island to assign you another task completely different from the tournament.
What Happens During The Event?
On the day of the event, C.J. will hold a stand in front of Resident Services. You will need to go to him and tell him that you want to take part in the Tourney. For the first time, you will be able to participate for free, but from the second time onwards, C.J. will charge 500 Bells each time.
Fishing Tourney Task Rules
- CJ will give you 3 minutes time window to catch as many fish you can catch.
- Every fish you catch will automatically go to the C.J.’s cooler box. Each fish will reward you one point, with two points bonus on three catches. So if you catch three fishes, you will get five points in total.
- You can redeem those points to C.J. to get get some awesome fish-related items.
How To Catch More Fish And Get More Points?
Before the tournament starts, make sure that you have at least 2 fishing rods. Also, collect fish bait at least 10 pieces per round before starting the tournament. It would be better if you organize your fishing rods in your inventory.
Don’t Waste Time- Don’t waste time even in equipping the fishing rod. Talk to CJ wit your fishing rod already equipped.
Aim For Sea- Once the tourney starts, aim to head towards the sea to get more fishes.
Use Bait- Throw the bait in the water to catch fish and repeat this.

Save Rare Fish To Sell At Higher Prices
Make sure to save rare catches for later as after the tournament, CJ will buy fish from you at 1.5x their normal price. You will be able to sell the fish at a higher rate whenever you want but after the tournament.
