American Truck Simulator Car Mods: How to Download & Install?
Before we start, it’s essential to know that there are two types of mods in American Truck Simulator. The first one is mods that you can get from the Steam Workshop and then we have external mods.
Getting Mods from Steam Workshop
Downloading Steam Workshop mods in the American Truck Simulator is pretty easy. Launch the game and go to Mod Manager. On this newly opened page, in the top right corner, you will find a big blue button that says “Steam Workshop“. Click on it and it will lead you to the Steam Workshop page of American Truck Simulator. From the list of mods here, search for the best car mods or the car mods of your choice. Once you’ve found a perfect mod, click on it. On the newly opened page, click on the Subscribe button. This is pretty much it. Now, when you return to the game and open the Mod Manager, you’ll see the mod is being downloaded. Once downloaded, double-click on the mod to activate it. If you have other active mods, then on the right pane, keep clicking on the “Increase priority” to take this new mod to the top of the priority list.
Downloading External Mods
Now, there is no limit on where you can find the external mods. You can find this on the modder’s social media handles, their official websites, or even on the SCS Forum. You have to visit these pages and follow the download instructions to download the mods. Then, when it comes to installing the mods, first you have to check if the downloaded file is a .scs file or a .zip file. If it’s a .scs file, then open this directory: “This PC > Documents > American Truck Simulator > Mods“, and drag the file here. For a .zip file, open it and ensure that it doesn’t have a .scs file inside. If it does, then you need to move the .scs file only to the aforementioned directory. Otherwise, you can move the total .zip file to the directory. Now, go back and launch American Truck Simulator and open Mod Manager. You will find the new mod here again. Double-click on it to activate it and then increase priority as stated before.
