American Express is a well-known corporation of multinational financial services. Its main headquarters are located at 200 Vesey Street at Lower Manhattan in New York City. Each of these cards have an average annual spending of around $19,972.
Forbes has termed American Express as the 23rd most valuable brand of this world in the year 2017 and it was ranked in 9th position by Fortune magazine in the year 2020. American Express was included in Fortune magazine’s Top 100 Companies to Work For in 2020 on the basis of employee survey of satisfaction. American Express issues consumer, small business and corporate cards. The company is the 4th biggest general-purpose card network at the global level on the basis of China UnionPay, Visa and MasterCard. It is also the partner bank of the mobile wallet system of Google as well as Apple. This means people can use the cards to pay at places where NFC payments are done. The company also provides contactless credit cards.
But despite being a very popular financial service and offering the best of the best transaction services to people in the form of cards, it suffers from various types of errors and other issues. One of them is the Error Code 100. In normal terms, Error Code 100 means that the type of transaction you want to do is not supported by the host or the transaction has been termed invalid. Most of the times people think that it might be a server error from the side of American Express. But this becomes more irritating when the company confirms that there is no server issue going on in their side. Users have said that when they tried to make a transaction with the card, it failed and showed the Error Code 100. In most of the cases, it has appeared as ‘Invalid Transaction’ and despite trying for multiple times, the transaction has been unsuccessful. The root cause of this issue is still unknown and there has been no official statement or solution mentioned from American Express.
Still, if the issue is bothering you a lot, you can follow these steps and try to fix it yourself –
- Ensure that you have entered the information correctly, i.e. your card PIN.
- The type of card you are using might not be supported in the place where you want to make the payment.
- Check if your account has been blocked by the merchant.
- If the problem exists for a long period of time, replace your card.
