The open-world game genre is one of the most beloved, and with all of the developmental delays at game studios caused by the pandemic, we were severely deprived of this genre of the gaming world, but one can hope that by 2022, things will get flowing again with some high quality new open world games. Let’s take a look at the ones that might be making the headlines when they drop in and around 2022. Right, let’s get into it.
Tchia
This is an open world adventure game where you play as a young girl named Tchia exploring her sandbox environment. She has a special ability that lets her transform into a wide barrage of animals and even objects. This is the main focus of the game, as you use it to navigate through the game world and the story campaign.
Hazel Sky
In this game, you take on the mantle of a young engineer named Shane, who is stranded on an island. The main premise of the game is to be able to build a vehicle to take you back home, whilst surviving your time on the island and sustaining yourself. The game is in the third person and the current teasers we have seen have shown off a very good-looking animation style that does not care for mimicking reality.
The Eternal Cylinder
This is an upcoming open-world survival game where the player must guide a set of randomly generated species on a randomly generated world through evolutions that include the ability to fly and that of breathing underwater. Basically, an open world adventure game that puts YOU in charge of the open world. A world is created differently in every save.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
In this dark take on a post-apocalyptic world, players explore the edges of the Chernobyl nuclear leak site, where those who dare enter gain supernatural abilities due to the radiation levels.
