Alan Wake 2 Espresso Express Bug: Is there any fix yet

The wait for Alan Wake 2 was long, but in the end, it was certainly worth it. Officially released on October 27, 2023, Alan Wake 2 is now available for Windows, current-gen PS, and Xbox consoles. As expected, the game received wide praise upon its release, with major appreciation going towards the game’s story and intense gameplay. While the game launched with no major optimization issues, it did have some issues that Remedy continues to deal with. And just recently, the Espresso Express bug has had the pleasure of annoying AW2 players.

The reason why it’s such a major bug is because it essentially blocks player progress in the game. Encountered during the Local Girl mission, the Espresso Express bug in effect makes the player unable to advance further in the mission by making the carousel cars clip into the floor and such. It has disrupted a lot of player progress, and that isn’t ideal. So, is there a fix for it? Continue reading to find out!

Remedy Entertainment were quick enough to acknowledge this issue and even addressed it in the latest update of the game. However, if you continue to encounter the bug, you can try the following workarounds:

Restart –

Before trying out any workaround, we suggest you do a quick restart of the game and see if the bug goes away. Restarting does work sometimes, so give it a try. And in case the issue persists, check out the next workarounds.

Reload a save –

You can even try reloading one of your saves to get around this issue. This simple method has worked for some players, so why not give it a try? However, reload the save that happens to be the closest to your current save so that you don’t have to backtrack a lot.

Use the wheelbarrow nearby –

Using the wheelbarrow nearby seems to be the most common way to circumvent this bug. Essentially, what you need to do is push the wheelbarrow near cart 6. If you are successful in putting the wheelbarrow at the right angle, you will be able to walk on top of cart 6 and drop down. From then on, you can continue with the quest as usual. Now, if you are having a hard time moving the wheelbarrow, use the throwable propane tanks to make the positioning easier. If you need a visual guide of sorts, watch this guide.

Get the latest update –

As we stated earlier, Remedy did address this bug with the release of Update 10. It, along with a bunch of bugs and issues, were fixed this time, and you can read everything about this update in the patch notes here. After installing the update, we are confident that the bug will no longer trouble you. But just in case it remains, you can check out the next workaround.

Follow certain steps –

One player shared their own method of dealing with this issue, which you can give a try. Essentially, what you need to do is install the fuse in the circuit box and then start Espresso Express by activating it from the control panel. After that, head over to the warehouse and perform a manual save. Close the game, and when you start it again, load the recent save. Do know that this isn’t a foolproof fix, and you might be unsuccessful in bypassing this bug, but it is still worth a shot.

Now that you know how to deal with this bug, why not find out how you can fix the inventory slot bug in the game? And if you want more guides like this, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement. Also read: Alan Wake 2 Unable to Interact with NPC bug: Is there any fix yet
