GTA Online was released on the 1st of October 2013, almost a month following the GTA 5 release on 17h of September 2013
It allowed players who had purchased GTA 5 to play alongside other players in the large-scale map of GTA 5.
GTA Online is like any other game mode where you are bound to run into some issues, a common issue players are met with is GTA Online simply not working.
what is GTA 5 Online?
In GTA Online, Players would be able to engage in PVP combats and complete missions together ranging from small races to full heists as well as play various community-made races and games.
GTA online gave players a new perspective on what online gaming could be for future releases and the content within it has been constantly added to over the past 8 years consistently which has kept a very strong community of players engaged with the game.
How to fix GTA online not working?
We will share a list of steps below through which you should be able to fix the issue or troubleshoot it.
Step 1
- To begin with, check if the official GTA online servers are online or are they down for maintenance, this can be checked by visiting their official site here
- If your GTA Online server is down or limited then that should be the reason as to why it’s not working, however, if the server is online then move onto the next step.
Step 2
- Check your internet speed and connection, GTA Online has the following set of minimum prerequisites for internet,
- Download Speed 7.5 Mbps (Minimum)
- Upload Speed 1Mbps (minimum)
- To check your Download and Upload speed, take a speed test here
- If your Internet does not meet the minimum requirements then that could very well be the core of the issue but if you do meet the requirements and are still running into issues then move onto the next step
Step 3
- Check your Open Network Ports, GTA Online requires the following Network Ports
- Port 6672 (UDP)
- Port 61455 (UDP)
- Port 61457 (UDP)
- Port 61456 (UDP)
- Port 61458 (UDP)
Step 4
- If all of the possible problems that are leading to your issue are working properly and you are still not able to play GTA Online, then simply restart your router, by unplugging it for 10 minutes.
- Call your ISP and ask them whether there is an issue on their side
- Check to see if you have any VPN service running in the background.
