Mangastream Down
Back in 2012, they announced to put the end of scanlations of WSJ titles and now they have completely shut down their services. Mangastream decided to stop the services in wake to promote legal and noble methods of reading Manga.
Following the path of Mangastream, JaminisBox has also announced to end the scanlation of WSJ titles. It has been down so that services like MangaPlus (MP) can grow and put out more free content. The sites want the readers who want free scans to support the Mangaka by reading only from the legal source. This will improve the quality of both the scans and translations that MP offers.
Twitter and Reddit have been flooded with users’ reaction. Many are sad from this news, and many are supporting the action of Mangastream. They are appraising Mangastream for helping in making the industry more professional.
Few Comments From Reddit:
So, this is something worth talking about. Mangastream’s site is permanently down, they’ve deleted all their tweets and their account has been privated.
Seems things are happening.
B already took down all One Piece chapter they had.
So this week we will probably need to wait until the official release to have a proper chapter.
Oh wow. I’m pretty sure I’ve read mangastream releases for 10 years. Can’t believe they’re gone.
I don’t know if it was actually 10 years, but I do remember reading Naruto on ther site.

Lots of ppl saying good riddance to #mangastream without giving credence to the fact that it introduced so many westerners to manga when they were young, broke or both.
Now that better alternatives exist, it’s only natural that this happened, but MS did more net good than harm.

#Mangastream is down for good. At the rate at which the anime industry has been getting more professional, this seems inevitable. Still, we should remember the hard labor of all these volunteers who worked to translate all this content that grew the market in the first place.
