Friday Night Funkin’ is categorized in the genre of rhythm games. Launched in the year 2020, this game was developed by Cameron Taylor aka ninjamuffin99. The inspiration for the game is from the old-school flash games which were popular back in the 2000s.
The overall game is divided into weeks each containing three songs. The opponent will sing an orchestra of musical notes which the player has to mimic. This sounds simple as the mimicking can be easily performed using the arrow keys or the WASD buttons.

Who is Funkin Senpai
Friday Night Funkin’ Senpai Sprites is a popular week deviating from the main art style of the game. This high school male character is introduced in week 6. The appearance of senpai is somewhat in sync with a regular high school goer. The partially tucked-in shirt with a loose pink-colored tie paired with gray jeans is an appropriate look To finish off his uniform, he carries a brown bag over his right shoulder. He has a light-skinned complexion with a constant pinkish blush and parted blonde hair.
The once cheerful Senpai switches to a discomforted and menacing look in the second level of the game. His tie appears to be bent and the upper half of his face turns purple. It appears as if he is now under the pressure to overcome this level with his left hand clutching the microphone.
Backstory of Senpai
A long time ago, who goes by the name of Spirit was trapped in this dating simulator. He laid dormant and waited for the right moment to emerge. This simulator originally belonged to Girlfriend who used to play it a lot with her Boyfriend.
Daddy Dearest for his green-eyed jealousy pushed both of them into the game. Later, both of them meet Senpai who wished to win over Girlfriend’s heart. Unfortunately, an act of chivalry ended in Senpai getting bested after his challenge with Boyfriend.
Now, the furious Senpai swears to destroy him. The second showdown between the two also ended in a loss for Senpai. Writhing in the pain of loss, his face blows up and Spirit emerges. Upon swearing vengeance on Daddy Dearest, he plans to defeat Boyfriend in a Rap battle to escape this world and trap the couple in it.
