The Touchtunes mobile app introduced Fast Pass a few years back, which is just a new name for the ‘Play Next” feature. The effects of this change have been monitored and the company determined that it would be fruitful to add this feature to the jukebox as well. Now, this new name very well matches with its functionality as the people who have paid extra credits for putting their song in a special queue are prioritized over the regular queues.
The Dynamic Fast Pass feature has an extra credit to the base price of a Fast Pass, once it has at least 10 songs in total, or even maybe 5 Fast Pass songs (whichever is there first). The price keeps on increasing with the growth of the queue, up to the 3 credits more than the Fast Pass base cost when your play queue would reach 20 or more songs. As the songs play further and queue sizes decrease, the price will also automatically decrease.
Now, this demonstrates that the users who want to jump a large queue will have to pay more obviously. This method is a lot beneficial as on one hand, it would mean that the Fast Pass would have fewer uses, but this will be adjusted with the price increase. While on the other hand, it states that when the queue will grow, there will be a better chance for the non-Fast Pass songs to play, and this would give Touchtunes more of its satisfied patrons.
Another thing that this feature offers is that it includes messaging on the Play Song screen so that the users can know that the price of a Fast Pass has gone up from its base price.
How does it work?
The Fast Pass feature allows a patron to pay more than the other user to move their song ahead of all other songs that were not queued up as Fast Pass songs. There are two priority “buckets” in the play queue, that is, The Regular Play bucket and The Fast Pass bucket.
