League of Legends (LoL): Clash Crashes servers

Back for a new cup, the very first of the 2021 season, the League tournament mode (Clash) had some setbacks tonight…After several hours of delay, and a legion of bugs, the Shadow Isles Cup has been suspended and postponed.

Many awaited it like the saviour to start the year 2021 on the right foot. After all, what better than a good tournament victory to start the League of Legends season on the hats of wheels? Unfortunately, Clash Mode encountered some damage tonight, causing the entire client to collapse.

The evening had started well: the teams had gathered around 7 p.m. ready to do battle for the pleasure of esport and the first round of the tournament went off without any worries. However, immediately after the first game, Clash mode was paused, and all players found themselves locked in the lobby. After multiple disconnections and error messages, the players finally managed to get into the second game.

The release was when everything crashed. That is the Clash mode, of course, but also the two ranked files. Doubtful of the outcome of the Clash for several hours, some teams withdrew, while others stubbornly persisted – only to discover, after more than an hour and a half of waiting, that the rest of the day’s games were canceled.

? [LoL-EUW/EUNE] Due to issues with EU network and servers, we will be canceling the remainder of Clash games for today and resume tomorrow. Tickets will be refunded for tournament teams that did not complete.

— Riot Games Support (@RiotSupport) January 16, 2021

Far from the horrors of its beginnings, Clash mode has demonstrated its stability in recent months. Gamers have encountered fewer bugs as Riot Games refined the game mode code, but it looks like the servers haven’t held up tonight.

Rest assured, it’s still possible to play, you’ll just have to give up your tasty LPs – for now. Until then, let’s just hope it doesn’t happen again tomorrow…

League of Legends server status can be checked here. If you are encountering other issues like League of Legends down or league of legends there was an unexpected error with the login session then you can issue a ticket.
