If the speaker in your Samsung Galaxy device is not working, then you might instantly consider it a hardware problem and take your device to customer care, replace the speaker and pay a lump of money for the service.
But that’s not the case every time. Sometimes, the speaker not working can be a software problem too. So if you own a Samsung Galaxy A10/ A20/ A50/ A51 and the speaker isn’t working, here’s how you can find if it’s a hardware or software problem and fix it easily.
Note: Do not try the steps with earphones plugged-in to the device you want to test.
Step 1-
Unlock your Samsung Galaxy device and open the Phone app on your device.
Step 2-
Dial the following digits using the virtual keypad in the phone app-
Step 3-
When you type those digits, you will see a Menu bar open similar to the one you see in the image below. In some older devices, there might be lesser options. But as long as you see the Speaker option, you are good to go!
Step 4-
Now click on the Speaker tab you see on your screen. If you hear a sound or music in return, that means the speaker of your device is absolutely fine and you don’t have to replace anything hardware-wise. It is the Android/ software problem due to which your phone speaker is not producing sound.
Step 5-
Return to the homepage of your device and open Settings.
Step 6-
Open the Sounds and Vibrations options and make sure Do Not Disturb if off and the volume is up. Check if the problem persists and then proceed to the next step.
Step 7-
Then go to About Phone and check for software updates. Update your device to the latest version using mobile data.
If your device is up to date, then patiently wait for the next security update. This issue will be fixed via OTA update itself and you do not have to spend anything on the hardware.
