A Reddit user WellisCute discovered a number of new files in the Dota 2 files related to the unknown character Puppet Master. This time, the data miner found several files with the Puppet Master’s ability icons.
Recall that the first mention of this hero was found in the game client a few weeks ago. At the same time, there were already rumours on the network that Valve could add a new Hero to Dota 2 that would control the minds of enemies.
Puppet Master Dota 2: Everything We Know
It is noteworthy that a character with the same name (Puppet Master) is in another well-known game of the MOBA genre – Heroes of Newerth.
On the screenshots they published, you can see 13 files with icons of the hero’s abilities. Readers on Reddit also suggested that the hero can be a micro-based hero like Chen or Meepo. Several other users also suggested that Puppet Master could switch to Dota 2 from Heroes of Newerth (there is already such a hero there) – perhaps this is what Void’s lines are hinting at. We could see a great fusion between two games upcoming.
It does make sense to see the files of a new hero because it has been tradition to unveil new heroes during Internationals. Last year we were blessed with the entry of Void Spirit and Snapfire. Even if the files have a shred of credibility, it can just be the testing phase. It seems highly unlikely that we will see a new Hero arrive to our beloved MOBA Dota 2 this year.
This is simply due to the pandemic has tanked a lot of development efforts from Valve side and we have seen the delay of Arcanas and Immortal Treasures as well as the Battle Pass. That does not mean that the hero is not in development. If we see the arrival of a new hero in Dota 2 this year then I will be pleasantly surprised!
