A couple of days ago we told you that OnePlus was all set to release its, Chinese Hydrogen OS11 update that would be based on Android 11. Well, we are here to deliver on our promise and tell you everything about it. OnePlus has a reputation for glamourous ceremonies when it comes to new releases, but owing to the current pandemic situation, OnePlus was forced to release Hydrogen OS11 online.
The update has been brought on for the developers just the way Samsung’s One UI 3.0 was and would be exclusive to the OnePlus 8 series. On the official announcement page of the website you find a clear mention, that this is still in its early period, so you must install with caution. Make necessary back-ups to not end up losing important data. If you are an ordinary user, it’s best you let the developers weigh this one and wait for your turn.
So, what is on offer with the new Hydrogen OS 11? Quite simply, a lot. Loads of visual changes will welcome you when you first swipe your way through it. With two new built-in fonts, the older font also gets modified to OnePlus Sans. A new live wallpaper that specialises in changing as the day passes by. At your disposal will also be 10 custom clocks personalised for the better on-screen experience. The dark mode has been accepted as a popular accessory across all smartphones and here too, we see some minor tweaks. The shortcut button will be available in the pull-down menu, and the dark mode can now be scheduled as per your choice.
OnePlus seems to have answered the public’s demand of an always-on display, though more clarity on this will come once the developers use this testing version. In the update log, lies a mention of the function of constant light display on the information screen, which can be altered between, all day and as per schedule. We suspect this could be the feature OnePlus had teased everyone about.
If you happen to be OnePlus 8 series user and have luckily stumbled on this post, we have provided the links below that would help you download the new Android 11 DP (Hydrogen OS11) update. That’s the good part, now OnePlus does clearly acknowledge that Android 11 DP 2 or as we call it the Hydrogen OS 11 is only an early adopter version, so a few problems are bound to be encountered.
- Third-Party applications could encounter frequent glitches.
- Network problems might emerge.
- There may be scene stability problems with close OEM unlock.
The source below will redirect you to the official OnePlus announcement page, that has all the deets for the same. The download links have been mentioned there too.
Note: The third version of the developer preview is the second DP version of the hydrogen version, so the version number is DP2
