Dragon Ball FighterZ released on January 24, 2018. It is a 2D fighting game published Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game gained quite the popularity, half-thanks to the huge fan base of the Dragon Ball series and the other half to the amazing efforts of the developers.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has been dubbed as one of the best dragon ball games, if not the best. The gameplay is slick with an original storyline rather than an overused one from the anime with amazing visuals and myriad of characters. The game has seen many local and international tourneys and tours due to its massive success and following.

After over an year, the question arrives about the sequel of Dragon Ball FighterZ. The good thing about the developers of the game is that they have been rolling out updates for the game quite frequently. The latest season of the game almost revamps the whole feel of the game almost providing a new experience but we did some digging anyways to know if a sequel is in development or not.

Despite the prevalent buzz for a sequel, the developers have confirmed that there is no early development going on for the sequel. Fighter games have a long life in the market. During an interview with PUSHSQUARE, the producer Tomoko Hiroki stated ‘ Currently, there’s no work ongoing for a sequel. One of the reasons is because FighterZ has only been out for a year and fighting games typically have a pretty long tail, and we believe that since it’s the first fighter of its kind for the Dragon Ball franchise, it’s important to build up that fanbase around this release first in the coming years. Then, perhaps after that time has passed, we’ll begin work on a sequel.’

We can expect at the least 4-5 years to see another Dragon Ball FighterZ game but creators have promised to provide with evergreen and new content in the updates regularly.
