Grounded 2 is the sequel to Grounded, which was released in early access on July 29, 2025. The gameplay brings in new elements of surprise and adventure as the goal is to ensure survival after being shrunk to the size of an insect. The environment is that of a public park, with everyday objects becoming a threat to survival. Grounded 2 has also brought the feature of taming and riding insect mounts called buggies. Along with that, new character archetypes, building tools, co-op functionality, etc., have been added.
However, the issue of connectivity is proving to be a hurdle in player experience. Many players are unable to join or host multiplayer sessions, including cross-platform play. Therefore, we have collected a list of suggestions for you to try if you are facing the same issue while trying to play in multiplayer mode. Follow the steps as listed below to troubleshoot this issue.
Grounded 2 multiplayer not working: How to fix it?
- Exit the current game and create a new multiplayer session. While exiting, close the game completely and preferably restart your device. After that, log in to the game and host a new online game from the multiplayer option. This can potentially fix the Network sync and lobby bugs.
- If you use the Xbox app on PC, update gaming services, Xbox beta, and Xbox identity provider from the Microsoft Store.
- Check the online status for Xbox Live or Game Pass. If the services are down, then the problem is likely from the server’s end.
- For consoles, try clearing the alternate Mac address. Go via the following path: Settings>General>Network settings>Advanced settings. Then choose the Alternate MAC address and select clear, then restart your console.
- Set the option to select the time and time zone of your system to automatic. This can usually be done through settings or through the date and time pinned to the bottom right of the taskbar. This will automatically adjust the time to the preferred time zone.
- Check your internet connection. Try plugging your router again and restarting the console, which should give a basic reset to the system.
- When playing cross-platform, add your friends on your main platform (Steam, Xbox, etc.), as well as in-game.
