Even though the latest release from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment, RoadCraft, has been listed as Playable for the Steam Deck, not every Steam Deck user is able to play the game due to a variety of unknown issues. For some, the game just fails to launch, while there are others complaining about crashing during shader loading. Anyway, if you are one of the many lucky players able to get the game running on your Deck, you must now be wondering which settings will be the best to ensure a stable experience. Well, in this guide, we have shared everything there is to know about getting high FPS while playing RoadCraft on your Steam Deck. So, consider reading until the end.
Coming to the Steam Deck, yes, it is a decent device, but obviously not as powerful as its competitors like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. What makes it very attractive is its relatively low price and good battery backup. That said, there are downsides too. A major one is the ability to run games at high FPS. So, if you are thinking about playing RoadCraft with a constant 60 FPS on the Deck, it’s time to come back to reality. That’s not going to happen any day. In the majority part of your gameplay, the in-game FPS will be hovering somewhere near 30-40 FPS. This will only be possible if you’ve set the right settings. More details are shared below.

RoadCraft Best Steam Deck Settings for High FPS & Performance
To change the in-game settings of RoadCraft, first, open the game and then select Settings. After this, switch to the Video tab and apply these changes:
- Target Display: Default
- Display Mode: Borderless
- Display Resolution: Default (1280×800)
- Render Resolution: Performance
- Resolution Upscaling: FSR3
- Frame Generation: Off
- Sharpness: 0.8
- V–Sync: Off
- Motion Blur Intensity: Off
- FPS Limit: 30
- Quality Preset: Low
- Aniso Texture Filtering: Off
- Texture Resolution: Low
- Shadows: Low
- Screen–space Ambient Occlusion: Off
- Screen–space Reflections: Off
- Mirrors: Off
- Effects: Low
- Details: Low
- Volumetric Clouds: Low
- Volumetric Fog: Low
With these settings, you can enjoy the game with a consistent 30 FPS without any stuttering. But if you want some extra performance, set the FPS Limit to 60, Render Resolution to Ultra Performance, and enable Frame Generation. While this will boost FPS to an extent, enabling Frame Generation will introduce input lag, so keep this in mind. Also, if you are more interested in the visuals, you can crank up the Texture Resolution to Medium/High, Effects to Medium, Details to Medium.
