Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Artifacting Issue Is there any fix yet (2)

Players who waited for the PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 aren’t really happy with the recent release. This is because the game is riddled with many bugs and errors. Consequently, the reviews have taken a dip and now the game has mixed reviews on Steam. Anyway, we are here to shine some light on the artifacting issue and if there is any fix for it. So, if you too have encountered the same problem, this is just the guide for you.

Some players have reported severe artifacting issues when using Frame Generation in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, especially in combination with Ray Tracing. The artifacts appear as grey boxes or strange visual distortions on characters and buildings, sometimes resembling pixelated or glitched textures. You might even get this glitch without using any of the previously mentioned features. So, how to fix it? Here are more details.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Artifacting Issue: Is there any fix yet

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Artifacting Issue Is there any fix yet

As of now, there has been no official acknowledgment or fix from the developers regarding the artifacting issue caused by Frame Generation and Ray Tracing in the game. Well, players facing this problem can try some potential fixes that might help mitigate the issue. We have explained these fixes below for you to try out.

RT Shadows

One thing to try is turning off RT (Ray-Traced) Shadows, as they can be quite demanding and may contribute to graphical glitches or performance instability. To do this, go to the in-game Settings menu, navigate to Graphics, and locate the Ray-Traced Shadows option. Set it to Off and apply the changes. If the issue persists, consider lowering other Ray-Tracing settings or disabling Ray-Tracing entirely.

Ray Tracing options

Another option you can try turning off is Ray Reconstruction, as it is a major reason behind visual glitches like grey boxes and texture issues. Additionally, lower the Raytraced Object Distance to 9 or below, which has helped many players prevent crashes, especially during key sequences like the intro fight, Peter running out of the classroom, Miles assisting on the bus, and the post-superjump phone call.

Graphics Settings

Another thing to try is lowering the game’s graphics settings and running it on Low Preset to see if that resolves the issues. To do this, go to Settings > Graphics and select the Low preset or manually reduce individual settings like Texture Quality, Shadows, HDR, and other post-processing effects. If the game runs stably on lower settings, you can gradually increase individual settings to find a balance between performance and visuals.

GPU-related fixes

Check for GPU driver updates, as outdated or buggy drivers can cause crashes, graphical glitches, and performance issues. For NVIDIA, update via GeForce Experience or download the latest driver from the official NVIDIA website. AMD users can update through AMD Adrenalin Software or the AMD website. After updating, type “Graphics” in the Windows search box to open the Graphics Settings menu, and from the list of installed programs that appear, select Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and set it to “High Performance”.

Verify and Updates

As a final step, verify the integrity of game files through Steam to make sure that there are no corrupted or missing files causing issues. Additionally, check for game updates and install any available patches, as developers frequently release fixes for crashes and performance problems. If everything else fails, consider reinstalling the game to eliminate any potential installation-related issues.

Well, these workarounds should help you resolve the issue permanently. We hope that future patches and updates will stabilize the game and remove these annoying visual bugs. Anyway, that is all for this guide and you can click here to find out how to fix the controller not working issue in this game.
