Ninja Gaiden 2 Black FPS Capped at 60 Issue Is there any fix yet

When you play a modern title like Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, you expect it to run with the highest possible graphics and frame rates. Now, if you have the system to pump out high FPS, there is no reason for you to play Ninja Gaiden on 60 FPS. But what if you are stuck at 60 FPS at all times? Well, this is the issue that some of the players are facing when running the game. If you too are encountering the same, this is just the guide you need. We have shared some workarounds for you to try.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has a 60 FPS cap, which is indeed frustrating. Players attempting to go higher have reported facing random stutters or instability, which ruins the gameplay. Now, have the officials touched on this issue? Are there any official fixes? What about some player-suggested fixes? Keep reading till the end for all the answers and details on the issue.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black FPS Capped at 60 Issue: Is there any fix yet

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black FPS Capped at 60 Issue Is there any fix yet

We do not have a sure-shot fix for this issue. However, there are some player-suggested potential fixes that we suggest trying out. If it worked for them, it could work for you as well! That said, here are those fixes.

Basic checks

Here are some simple fixes to try first. Disable V-Sync and set the FPS limit to 120 via the in-game settings menu. Use the appropriate upscaler for your GPU (FSR for AMD, DLSS for NVIDIA, XeSS for Intel Arc) and avoid frame generation. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, check that the max FPS setting isn’t capped at 60. Make sure your monitor has its highest refresh rate setting enabled in Windows Display Settings, as Windows may default to 60Hz. Laptop users should disable NVIDIA Optimus.

Select Monitor

Another simple fix for the game, if it keeps getting stuck at 60 FPS, is to check the in-game monitor selection option. If it appears blank, click on it and select your monitor manually. This should restore higher refresh rate options, including 120 FPS if your display supports it. This has worked for some players so do give it a shot.

Fullscreen and Reflex

To hit higher frame rates and reduce input lag, we suggest switching to fullscreen mode via the in-game settings and enabling NVIDIA Reflex. This should be enough to bypass any FPS cap and make gameplay feel smoother, especially if you’re experiencing judder or FPS instability.

Steam launch options

Here is another workaround to try: Adding the unlock frame cap command in the game’s Steam launch options fixed the FPS cap issue for some players, allowing them to unlock higher frame rates. However, the 120 FPS option still doesn’t appear in the in-game settings, which could be due to a UI limitation or engine restriction. Anyway, to unlock the frame cap, open Steam, go to your library, right-click the game, select Properties, and under the General tab, find Launch Options. Enter the “+fps_max unlimited” command in the text box, close the window, and launch the game to check whether the issue is fixed now.

Nvidia Control Panel

If the 120 FPS option isn’t showing in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, check the refresh rate setting on your monitor via the Windows Display Settings under Advanced Display. If it’s set to a different value than the one your monitor supports, change it to match the value. Even if the NVIDIA Control Panel shows the right refresh rate, Windows may round it differently, affecting in-game options.

With these workarounds, we hope that the 60 FPS issue has been fixed in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Anyway, that is all for this guide but keep an eye on DigiStatement for more guides on Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and other popular games.
