Delta Force FPS Drops & Stuttering Issues Troubling Players Is there a fix yet

Old-school gamers will recall the Delta Force games, which were some’s go-to FPS titles. After a series of alpha play tests, open betas, and early access, we finally have the full release of the new Delta Force. You too might have downloaded this free-to-play game only to face FPS drops and stuttering. Well, this has been troubling players as of late and they are curious to know if there is a fix for this.

With this new Delta Force game, even players with PCs exceeding the recommended hardware specifications have reported significant FPS drops despite otherwise high performance. Also, most of the lag and stuttering issues are on AMD GPUs. If you are facing the same, chances are you too have an AMD GPU. Anyway, these drops can cause the frame rate to plunge from an average of 180–220 FPS to as low as 15-20 FPS for 3-5 seconds before recovering. In an FPS game, even the slightest stutters can have a disadvantage. So, let’s see how this can be fixed.

Interestingly, a recent hotfix for the Delta Force game has been released, but the patch notes primarily highlight tweaks and adjustments to the operators. Unfortunately, there is no explicit mention of fixes addressing the lag and stuttering issues in the game, leaving players uncertain if these performance problems have been resolved. Anyway, here are some possible fixes that you can try.

Basic Checks

Before attempting any advanced workarounds, start with a simple fix: restart your PC and run the game as an administrator. Restarting clears temporary files and resets system resources, which can resolve minor issues. Running the game with admin permissions ensures it has full access to necessary system files and settings. Make sure that no unnecessary applications are running in the background, which can consume CPU and memory resources. If you still end up with a lag, try verifying the game files as well. In Steam, right-click on the game, go to Properties > Local Files, and click Verify Integrity of Game Files to check if there are any missing or corrupted files.

Update Drivers

As of the latest development, AMD has released a new GPU driver specifically for Delta Force, and updating to this latest version may help resolve performance issues, including FPS drops and stuttering. So, we recommend downloading and installing the update to benefit from any optimizations or bug fixes tailored for the game. Even for those with Nvidia GPUs, do check for an update and install if available.

Roll Back Drivers

If updating does not help, rolling back GPU drivers can serve as a temporary workaround for the lag and stuttering issues in Delta Force. This is especially true for PC builds with AMD components. One player also claimed that the developers acknowledged the problem with AMD cards and recommended AMD-based PC users revert to an earlier driver version. Another AMD user resolved the problem by reverting to the 24.8.1 driver. While it works for AMD devices, there is no harm in trying this even if you are using an Nvidia card.

Ray Tracing

Speaking of Nvidia cards, if you are using GPU-intensive features like Ray Tracing, it may be what is causing the issue. Likewise, disabling Ray Tracing has been identified as a potential solution for the FPS drops in Delta Force. Players have reported that turning off this feature significantly reduces performance issues, suggesting that Ray Tracing may not be fully optimized in the game.

Smart Access Memory

Another potential fix is deactivating Smart Access Memory (SAM) in the AMD Adrenalin driver settings, regardless of the driver version. Some players, including one with an RX 6800 who experienced severe FPS drops into the 30s and GPU usage drops, reported that disabling SAM resolved the issue. If you are not sure where to find this setting, a quick search online should help!

Low Graphics

Avoid playing on ultra settings! Even if you have a monster gaming rig, try lowering the graphics settings, as this can help mitigate FPS drops and improve overall stability. Many players have reported better performance and fewer stutters after reducing their settings. Try disabling the Shadows, Anti-Aliasing, and other demanding features.

Lossless Scaling

One player recommended using the “Lossless Scaling” tool as a potential workaround for performance issues in Delta Force. This tool, available for purchase, can optimize resolution scaling to enhance performance and maintain consistent frame rates on many PC games. While it isn’t a free solution, some players have found it effective in mitigating FPS drops.

Launch Commands

Another suggestion to improve performance in Delta Force is to try using specific launch command lines in Steam’s game settings. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open Steam and go to your game library.
  • Right-click on Delta Force in your game list and select Properties.
  • In the General tab, find the Launch Options section.
  • In the text box under “Launch Options,” enter the following: -dx11 -useallavailablecores

Save the changes, close the properties window, and then relaunch the game.

Resizable bar

Disabling the Resizable BAR feature can also help resolve performance issues in Delta Force. Some players have reported that turning off Resizable BAR, which allows the CPU to access the entire GPU memory, has helped stabilize FPS and reduce stuttering. This can be done through the BIOS or the motherboard’s utility software, depending on your system configuration.

Whitelist the game

Antivirus software or Windows Firewall may sometimes block Delta Force from running properly. To fix this, you can add Delta Force to the whitelist of your antivirus software or Windows Firewall. To whitelist the game, open your antivirus software or Windows Firewall settings, go to the Exclusions or Exceptions tab, and add them to the list of excluded programs. After this, restart it and check if this fixes the issue.

Update/Reinstall

Always check for game patches or updates, as developers may release fixes addressing performance issues. If no patches are available or an update doesn’t resolve the problem, consider reinstalling the game on a faster drive, such as an SSD. This could significantly improve load times and reduce stuttering caused by slower storage devices.

With these workarounds, we hope that you were able to get past the stuttering and lagging issues and enjoy Delta Force to its fullest. Now, before you leave, don’t forget to stay tuned to DigiStatement for more daily gaming guides and news. Also read: Caves of Qud: How to get pets?
