Life is Strange Double Exposure Blurry Graphics Issue: Is there any fix yet

If you’ve been diving into Life is Strange: Double Exposure and noticed unusually blurry graphics affecting your experience, you’re not alone. Many players have reported this issue, which makes the game’s visuals look unclear or out of focus, impacting the immersive feel of the story. So, without any further ado, keep reading this guide till the end to see whether there’s a fix for the blurry graphics issue in the game. We have also shared some potential workarounds to help improve the game’s visual quality.

Players experiencing super blurry graphics in Life is Strange: Double Exposure have reported that, even with settings on “Cinematic” for maximum quality, the visuals appear noticeably out of focus, almost as if the resolution isn’t rendering correctly. Despite double- and triple-checking settings, including resolution and other visual adjustments, this issue persists, making it hard to enjoy the game’s otherwise detailed graphics. So, how to fix it? Here’s how.

Life is Strange Double Exposure Blurry Graphics Issue Is there any fix yet

As of now, there is no official fix for the blurry graphics issue in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. However, we do have some workarounds that may help alleviate the problem. It’s worth trying these potential solutions, even though they may not work for everyone.

Resolution Scale

To improve the clarity of the graphics in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, you can try adjusting the Resolution Scale and Secondary Scale settings. For this, access the game’s main menu, select Settings, and then the Graphics tab. Here, select the Advanced Video Settings option, and then start by reducing the Resolution Scale by a few points, typically around 2-3, which can help sharpen the image and reduce blurriness. Additionally, ensure that the Secondary Scale is set to 100%, as this setting can influence overall graphical fidelity, making it a lot clearer.

.ini File

To further reduce the blurriness and remove unwanted visual effects in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, you can disable Depth of Field (DoF), Chromatic Aberration, Motion Blur, and Film Grain directly via the game’s engine.ini file. To find this file, navigate to C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Chronos\Saved\Config\Windows. Here, right-click on the engine.ini file, and open it with Notepad. Now, add the following lines at the end of the file:

[SystemSettings]

  • r.DepthOfField=0
  • r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
  • r.MotionBlur.Max=0
  • r.MotionBlurQuality=0
  • r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0
  • r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
  • r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0
  • r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
  • r.Tonemapper.Quality=0

This will effectively disable these settings, giving you a clearer, sharper image by removing grain and blurring effects

Post-processing

Another effective workaround for the blurry graphics issue is to reduce the Post Process Quality setting to Medium. In Life is Strange: Double Exposure, setting Post Process Quality to High or Cinematic applies an intense chromatic aberration effect that significantly impacts image clarity—especially when combined with a reduced secondary scale slider, which lowers the resolution of post-process effects even further. Strangely, lowering some settings, like Post Process Quality, can improve visual sharpness more than maxing them out.

Verify Game Files

One quick and effective way to resolve potential file-related issues is to verify the integrity of the game files. To verify the game files, go to your game library, right-click on Life is Strange: Double Exposure, select Properties, navigate to Installed Files, and choose Verify Integrity of Game Files. This can be a straightforward fix for missing assets causing display issues.

Check for Game Updates

Sometimes, blurry graphics are tied to bugs that the developers may have addressed in updates. Regularly checking for game updates ensures that you have the latest patches installed, which may include fixes for graphical issues and performance improvements. Enable automatic updates or manually check for updates through your game launcher to make sure you’re on the latest version of the game.

Reinstall the Game

If other troubleshooting steps fail, reinstalling Life is Strange: Double Exposure can be a more comprehensive solution. A fresh installation can resolve any deeper configuration or file corruption issues causing graphical problems. To do this, uninstall the game, delete any remaining game-related folders, and then reinstall it on a faster drive if possible.

With these workarounds, you should be able to fix the blurry graphics issue in Life is Strange Double Exposure.
