Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has already made waves since its initial release in December 2023. That release, however, was limited to consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and on PC through Epic Games and Ubisoft Connect. Steam users were feeling left out but not anymore! Yes, the game has finally hit the Steam store and with that, there has been a surge in new players and also queries about the game. So, here we are with all the details regarding the mod, ultrawide, HDR, AMD FSR, and DLSS support details for this game.
We understand why you want these features in the game. Mods will let you be the god of Pandora with custom content and new ways to enjoy the game. HDR will make the overworld look much sharper, more vivid, and more realistic, just like in the movies. Ultrawide and super ultrawide support is a must in today’s gaming scene and AMD FSR 3 and DLSS will improve the overall performance and graphics quality. That being said, let’s see if Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has support for these features.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
Mods and HDR
Coming straight to the point, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora does not officially support mods, but the modding community is already active! Mod hosting sites like Nexus Mods have already listed a bunch of mods for the game. So, even though mods are not officially supported, you will be able to download and install them. Just follow the precautions and take backups at all times while modding the game. For HDR, you would be delighted to know Frontiers of Pandora supports HDR for better colors and contrast. In the display settings, you can easily toggle HDR on and off. You also get HDR Peak Brightness and HDR Peak Brightness UI sliders to adjust the brightness levels according to your preference.
Ultrawide Support and Fix
For those with wide monitor setups, support for both ultrawide and super ultrawide aspect ratios is available in the game. However, there is a slight caveat with cutscenes being pillarboxed to 16:9, which can be addressed with the Ultrawidescreen Fix to remove the pillarboxes. For the fix, follow these steps:
- Backup Files: Make a backup of the afop.exe and afop_plus.exe files in the game directory.
- Open Hex Editor: Use a Hex Editor (like HxD) to open afop.exe (or afop_plus.exe for Ubisoft+ users).
- Search for Hex Value: Press Ctrl+F and select the “Hex Values” tab. Set the search direction to “Forward” and search for 39 8E E3 3F (should be at offset 034FEBE0 in version 1.03).
- Replace Value: Replace 39 8E E3 3F with the value corresponding to your resolution.
- Save Changes: Save the file by pressing Ctrl+S.
With these changes, relaunch the game and see if the black bars during the cutscenes have been fixed.
FSR 3 and DLSS
Luckily, the game supports high-fidelity upscaling technologies, including TAAU, FSR 3.0, and DLSS 3.5. FSR 3.0 includes frame generation, better performance, and visual quality. DLSS 3.5 will give you advanced upscaling but without any frame generation or ray reconstruction.
