WWE 2K24 Locked at 30 FPS Issue Is there any fix yet

When it comes to wrestling games, the WWE 2K franchise has consistently delivered a memorable experience for fans and gamers alike. The latest installment, WWE 2K24, has sparked a spectrum of reviews, with players expressing mixed sentiments about the game. Among the array of discussions surrounding WWE 2K24, a notable concern has emerged regarding its frame rates, which appear to toggle between 30 and 60 frames per second (FPS) during gameplay. This has left many players confused and raises the question of whether this fluctuation in frame rates is a noteworthy issue that requires attention. Well, as always, here we are with answers.

The FPS dips occur in multi-superstar battles, particularly during matches featuring more than five superstars, where the game is reportedly locked at 30 frames per second (FPS). Additionally, players have observed frame rate dips during cutscenes, impacting the overall visual fluidity. These issues have raised eyebrows within the gaming community, prompting discussions about the game’s optimization and potential fixes.

During Multi-Superstar Matches

So here is the deal, in WWE 2K24, the deliberate 30 FPS cap during matches involving more than five superstars serves as a proactive measure to prevent potential performance slowdowns, maintaining a stable gaming experience. Therefore, this is not an issue but rather a core in-game feature and is activated by default to ensure smoother gameplay in scenarios with a substantial number of on-screen characters. However, recognizing that some players may prioritize higher frame rates, the option to disable this cap exists in the in-game settings. Nevertheless, disabling the cap introduces the risk of encountering slow-motion issues during gameplay, which the players have been complaining about.

Uncap Cutscenes!

Coming to the cutscenes, by default, those are capped at 30 fps. No doubt, players would want at least a stable 60 fps during these cutscenes, as 30 fps is way too janky for the eyes of most gamers these days. Thankfully, there is a workaround for this. Just follow the steps given below.

  • Start by accessing the config file for WWE 2K24, following the path:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata[YourSteamID]\2315690\remote\WWE 2K24.
  • Double-click on the config file to open it with a text editor (like Notepad).
  • In the “[advanced]” section of the file, find the line that reads “timed_game_update = on” and change it to “timed_game_update = off.” This adjustment will disable the frame rate lock during entrances.
  • Save the changes and close the config file.

After editing the file, you can manually lock the fps at 60 using your graphics card software (AMD Adrenalin or Nvidia Control Panel). Here, select WWE 2K24 from the list of programs. If it’s not listed, you can add it using the “Add” button. After that, fiddle around with the settings and set both “Background application max framerate” and “Max framerate” to 60 FPS. Also, don’t forget to disable Vsync for WWE 2K24 within the profile settings before you save the changes you made.

And those are all the workarounds you can try to fix the 30 FPS issue in WWE 2K24. We hope this was helpful. For more gaming reads like this, keep visiting DigiStatement. Read more: WWE 2K24 Save File Nightmare DLC Missing Issue: Is there any fix yet
