Developer PlayWithFurcifer just recently released their latest title on March 8, 2024, called Backpack Battles. The game is currently under early access and is slated to remain that way for about 3 to 6 months, as the developers have stated in the Steam FAQ section. Early reviews have been mostly positive, but like any other early access title, it does suffer from some issues. And a major one happens to be related to Steam’s Family Sharing feature.
The issue here is simple. For whatever reason, players are unable to Family Share the game despite the game allowing it. Some players did some digging into the issue and found out that the 873500 Backpack Battles package changed the Family Sharing option to ExcludeFromSharing. Is it intentional? We don’t think so, since the developer didn’t mention this change. So, can this issue be fixed? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Backpack Battles Family sharing not working: How to fix it?
Well, the developers are aware of this issue and an official fix should be available soon. So, until then, you can try the following fixes and see if any of them are of help:
Run SFC scan –
Sometimes corrupt or missing system files can cause issues like this one. Running a SFC scan usually fixes that issue. And you can do that by:
- Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type in sfc /scannow and press the Enter key.
- Once the scan is over, close the Command Prompt and launch the game to see if the issue persists. If it does, try another fix.
Reset Winsock –
This issue can also occur when the Winsock catalog isn’t updated regularly. Resetting it helps in that regard. So, what you should do is open Command Prompt as an administrator and type in this command: netsh winsock reset. Once you see Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog on the screen, close the Command Prompt and restart your PC.
Reauthorize Shared Steam Library –
Players can also try reauthorizing the Shared Steam Library and see if that helps in dealing with this issue. Basically, all you need to do is open Steam Settings and switch to Family. Uncheck the Authorize Library Sharing on this computer option and checkmark it again. Now, click on Manage other computers and choose Revoke for all PCs. Now, run the game on the shared Steam Library and re-authorize the PC that is requesting access.
Verify game files –
A common workaround for this issue has been to verify and repair the game files and as such, we suggest you give it a try. Just navigate to the Steam Library, right-click on Backpack Battles, and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Once the process is over, restart your PC and then launch the game.
Wait
Since the developers have responded to this issue, we are sure that they are working on a fix as of now. So, you can wait for a while until an official fix is released, fixing the family sharing issue in the game.
