There’s not really a ton of rugby games out there. That’s why titles like Big Ant Studios’ Rugby 24 have garnered such a large and loyal following. Big Ant Studios is known for developing high-quality sports titles and just recently released one of the best cricket games right now – Cricket 24. Now, there are a lot of questions around Rugby 24 that players want to ask. And a major one happens to be whether the game is CPU or GPU-intensive.
Questions like this don’t need to be asked if developers these days are also focused on optimization. From The Lord of the Ring: Gollum to Immortals of Aveum, the video gaming world is currently struggling with PC optimization. So, is Rugby 24 on the list of unoptimized games too? How CPU or GPU-intensive is the game? Well, let’s go ahead and find out all about that.
Is RUGBY 24 CPU or GPU intensive?
Well, unfortunately, we don’t really have the answer to this question, as Rugby 24 has yet to see its release. In case you didn’t know, Big Ant Studios has delayed Rugby 24 for the second time and has announced that the game will now be released as an early-access title on Steam in March 2024. On August 31, 2023, the developers made an announcement related to Rugby 24, communicating the game’s delay. Furthermore, the reason Big Ant had to delay the game was due to the Rugby World Cup, with the announcement stating
”…we have also had difficulty gaining access to some of the top teams’ players to capture 3D photos (photogrammetry) prior to the Rugby World Cup. As we want to bring the most authentic and complete rugby game to date, we have taken the difficult decision to push back the Rugby 24 release date to 30 January 2024, on the eve of the Six Nations tournament.”

While the delay was disheartening, fans still had high hopes for January 30, 2024. Sadly, prior to the scheduled release date, the developers made another announcement on January 23, 2024. And like we stated before, Rugby 24 is now delayed for a second time. However, instead of releasing the full game later on, Big Ant Studios and publisher Nacon shared the fact that the game will now be released as an early-access title on Steam.
“We have decided that the best way forward is to release Rugby 24 into early access in Steam after we have a sufficient amount of content captured., ”the announcement stated”, We are currently travelling the world capturing teams and expect to have enough content in March, with a view to completing all of the content capture sometime later in 2024, at which time we will release on Console also.”

So far, nothing else has been shared on Rugby 24 by the developers, so it’s particularly hard to say anything about the game, including the answer to the question of whether the game is CPU or GPU-intensive. When we do get the system requirements and other information on the game, we will be sure to let our readers know and update this article accordingly.
