Tekken 8 can't join friend session issue How to fix it

Tekken 8, the latest installment in the iconic fighting game franchise, brings thrilling combat and intense matchups that are even more enjoyable with friends. However, some players have encountered an issue preventing them from joining friend sessions, causing frustration and obstruction to the multiplayer experience. So, if this sounds like your problem, keep reading this guide till the end, as we provide some effective solutions to make sure you can seamlessly connect with your friends in Tekken 8.

Talking about the problem, some players are encountering a frustrating issue in Tekken 8 where attempting to join a friend’s session results in an interruption. Specifically, when creating a private lobby and initiating a match, one player reaches the character selection screen while the other doesn’t, leading to a disruption in the session. Curiously, both players can engage in matches with others in ranked or lounge modes, making this a peculiar and isolated problem in the context of friend sessions. So, if you too are encountering the same, here are some workarounds you can try.

While there is no single guaranteed fix for this issue, a lot of players have been struggling with it, and therefore, we have a bunch of potential fixes that are worth trying. Here are those workarounds:

Restart

If you encounter difficulties joining a friend’s session in Tekken 8, the initial step to attempt is restarting your system. Sometimes, a simple system reboot can resolve connectivity issues and allow for a smoother gaming experience with friends.

Check Internet

Another recommended workaround is to check your internet connection. Restart your router, consider using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi, or switch to an alternative network if possible. You can also use an Ethernet cable to ensure a stable and reliable internet connection.

Check Server Status

Before troubleshooting further, it’s essential to verify the server status of Tekken 8. Occasionally, connectivity issues may arise due to server maintenance or unexpected outages. Visit the official Twitter/X page of Tekken 8 to check if there are any reported server maintenance. If servers are experiencing problems, you will have to wait until they are restored.

Contact your ISP

The resolution, as shared by a player, involved both individuals using the same ISP with CGNAT (Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation) by default. The player called their ISP to switch to a dynamic IP, and after this change, they were able to connect successfully. It’s noteworthy that only one person in the friend duo made the switch, leaving the other still on CGNAT. This workaround might prove helpful for others facing a similar challenge.

Network Adapters and Firewall

Another player solved the problem with the help of this workaround. They uninstalled VirtualBox, disabled and uninstalled additional network adapters (such as those related to VirtualBox), and ensured that all possible firewall rules were set to open for Tekken 8 in their firewall settings. These steps helped them successfully address the connectivity issue. So, give this method a try.

Avoid VPN Usage

Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) can sometimes lead to connection problems in online multiplayer games. Disable any active VPN connections before attempting to join your friend’s session. VPNs may alter network configurations and cause disruptions in the game’s connectivity, leading to issues like the one you’re experiencing.

Contact Support

If the problem persists despite checking the server status and avoiding VPN usage, reaching out to Tekken 8’s support team is a recommended step. Provide details about the issue you’re facing, and cross your fingers and hope for the best.

With those workarounds, we hope that you were able to join your friend’s session without any further interruption in Tekken 8. Well, that is all we have to share on this matter.
