Enshrouded removing Bloom Is it possible (2)

Enshrouded, the immersive co-op survival action RPG developed and published by Keen Games, has made a powerful entrance into the gaming scene, boasting very positive reviews since its early access release on January 24, 2024. As players traverse the vast voxel-based continent of Embervale, battling corrupted creatures and shaping their destiny, a particular aspect has piqued the interest of the community. Despite the game’s acclaim, a query has emerged among players: Can the atmospheric bloom effect be disabled in “Enshrouded”? So, if you are one of those players wondering the same, this is just the article for you!

The desire among some players to disable the bloom effect stems from a combination of individual preferences and performance considerations. On one hand, some gamers may prefer a more muted visual experience, finding the bloom effect to be overly intense or distracting. These players often seek greater customization options to tailor the game’s aesthetics to their liking. On the other hand, disabling Bloom can also be driven by performance concerns. Some systems or hardware configurations may experience better frame rates and smoother gameplay when the bloom effect is turned off, particularly for those playing on lower-end devices. That being said, let us see if doing so is even possible in Enshrouded right now.

As of the current state of “Enshrouded” in its Early Access phase, players seeking to disable the bloom effect may find themselves without an in-game option to do so. This absence, however, aligns with the typical progression of games in early development, where certain features and customization options are still being fine-tuned. Engaged in a constructive dialogue with the community, the developers have acknowledged player feedback on this matter. In response to inquiries, the development team has assured players that they are aware of the desire for more customization, including the ability to control or disable the bloom effect.

Alternative methods?

Currently, players seeking an alternative method to address the bloom effect in “Enshrouded” can turn to user-created mods. The mod named “Jrm’s Fake HDR Brightness Semi Fix” serves as a Reshade Preset designed to address the brightness and bloom in “Enshrouded.” Specifically, the mod utilizes the Fake HDR feature to significantly reduce the game’s brightness and bloom effects. While it may not eliminate these elements, the preset aims to provide a more visually comfortable experience for players. You can download the mod by clicking here. For the installation, begin by clicking here to obtain the latest Reshade version. After the download, place the provided jrmfakehdr.ini file in the Enshrouded root directory before running the Reshade.exe file. Now, execute the Reshade.exe file, select Enshrouded, and choose the VULKAN rendering API. During the installation, ensure the preset file is set to the downloaded jrmfakehdr.ini. Once finished, run the game, and if necessary, adjust the brightness through the Reshade menu by pressing the home key, selecting HDR, and modifying the global preprocessor definitions.

With this, you should be able to disable Bloom to a certain extent in Enshrouded until the game has an in-game option to do the same. Anyway, for more guides and news like this on all things gaming, be sure to visit DigiStatement regularly. Read more: Enshrouded in-game chat: Is it available?
