Whether due to personal preference or specific hardware limitations, you might choose to disable FOG to enjoy a different visual experience. As we mentioned earlier, disabling FOG in Lords of the Fallen involves editing the game’s configuration file as there is no in-game option for doing the same. So, follow the steps given below for the same.

  • Navigate to the Configuration File: The first step is to locate the Engine.ini file. You can find this file in the following directory: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\LOTF2\Saved\Config\Windows. Replace “Username” with your actual Windows username.
  • Edit the Engine.ini File: Open the Engine.ini file using a text editor of your choice, such as Notepad.
  • Add Configuration Settings: In the Engine.ini file, add the following configuration settings under the [SystemSettings] section:
    • r.Fog=0
    • r.VolumetricFog=0
  • These settings will disable both the standard fog and volumetric fog in the game.
  • Save the Changes: After adding these settings, save the Engine.ini file.
  • Launch Lords of the Fallen: Now, launch the game and enjoy the clear visuals with FOG disabled.

Before you start making the changes to the .ini file, it’s essential to emphasize the importance of taking a backup of your “Engine.ini” file. This step is crucial in case you ever want to revert to the original settings or encounter any issues with the changes you’re about to make. So, back up your “Engine.ini” file, and you will be thankful for doing so if you run into issues later on.
