Synced couldn’t start error

While there are no official fixes to this issue, the given workarounds should be enough to get rid of it. So, make sure to give them a shot.

Allow Synced as a Windows Firewall exception

  • Type Windows Security in your Windows search box and hit enter. Then, click on the first option.
  • Go to the “Firewall & Network Protection” option, and from the right side panel, click on the “Allow an app through Firewall” option.
  • Click on Change Settings.
  • Next, click on the “Add another app…” button.
  • Now click on Browse and select the executable file of Synced from the game’s installation directory.
  • Add an exception for both public and private networks, and then click OK to apply the changes.
  • Launch the game and see if the issue persists.

Install C++ Redistributable files

You need to download the latest Microsoft C++ Redistributable files from the official website. Download both the vc_redist.x86 and the vc_redisy.x64 files and install them. After this, launch the game, and check if the error persists.

Whitelist the game on Kaspersky Antivirus

Well, this issue is reported to occur on systems that have the Kaspersky Antivirus program running. So, it can be fixed by whitelisting the game’s .exe file on the Kaspersky Antivirus. While doing so, you can also add it as an exception in Windows Defender Antivirus. If the issue persists, consider uninstalling the antivirus program and then launching the game. One of the game’s Steam discussion forum administrators mentioned that the developers have contacted Kaspersky regarding this issue, so an official fix might be on the way. Meanwhile, if you want to know how to restore the .exe file from the antivirus’s quarantine state, here’s what you need to do:

  • Launch the Kaspersky Antivirus program and head to the Settings/More Tools tab.
  • Here, find the Quarantine option and click on it.
  • Now, you will see a list containing all the quarantined files. Here, you need to find and select the .exe file of Synced.
  • After this, click on the Restore button.
  • Next, launch the game and check if the issue persists.

Verify game files

  • Open Steam and go to your Steam Library.
  • From the list of installed games, right-click on Synced.
  • From the context menu, click on Properties and then select Installed Files. Then, select the “Verify integrity of game files” option and let Steam complete the process.
  • Run the game and see if it launches now.
