Starfield Unable to Repair Ships Issue: Is there any fix yet

Starfield is just around the corner, and players will be able to enjoy Bethesda’s latest space RPG in a few days. While many fans are already enjoying the game, all thanks to early access, it’s evident that there are some major issues with it. From the crashing/not launching to controller issues, there’s a lot that Bethesda needs to address. On that note, the unable to repair ships issue is currently troubling a lot of players.

The problem here is, as the name suggests. Many players are unable to repair their ships in the game, and there is no indication as to whether this is a bug or simply negligence. Nevertheless, this is a frustrating issue since being unable to repair your ship can lead to unfair fights that result in defeat. So, is there any fix for it? Let’s find out!

As of now, there’s no official fix for this issue. As such, players would have to make do with the following workarounds. Since they are just potential workarounds, the chances of their success are quite low, but they are reported to be effective. So, give them a try regardless.

Use the correct hotkey –

We wouldn’t fault you for thinking that to repair ships, you need to press the 0 (zero) key. The default hotkey to repair ships is actually the O key, as in orange, unlike the default medkit keybind on foot, which is set to 0 (zero). If you have been pressing 0 to repair ships and it isn’t working, now you know why. However, despite pressing the correct key, if you still encounter the issue, then follow the next method.

Ensure that Ship Parts are in the ship’s cargo hold –

You will not be able to repair your ship if you don’t have enough ship parts. Check if they are in the ship’s cargo hold, and if yes, then press the repair key. If you have the ship parts in your inventory, make sure to transfer them to your ship’s cargo hold and then initiate the repair process.

Additionally, Xbox players have found that the ship parts go to AID after they buy them. So, don’t forget to transfer them to the ship’s cargo. You can press the X button to make the transfer. Pressing the left bumper on your controller will let you open inventory and see the ship parts.

Check if you are in Scan Mode –

If you have switched on Scan Mode by mistake, you are likely to encounter this issue. So, the best thing to do here is to simply ensure that you aren’t in scan mode. If the issue still persists, then try the next method.

Open the character page and repair your ship –

First, you should make sure that you have ship parts in the cargo hold. Then, open the character page, and at the bottom left, you will see your ship. Select it, and press R to repair it.

Buy more ship parts –

For some players, buying more ship parts resolved this issue. While we can’t guarantee if it will work for you or not, we still suggest you give it a try. If you have some credits to spare, purchase more ship parts and then try repairing the ship.

Service Technician

If you want to repair your ship out of combat and have some credits to spare, land in any major city and find a Ship Repair technician. Use their service by offering 1000 credits, and they will repair your ship.

We certainly hope that with the help of this guide, you are able to get rid of the repair ship issue in Starfield. For more such interesting guides, make sure to follow DigiStatement. Also read: Starfield Incoming Weather Status Effect Bug: Is there any fix yet
