Starfield How to change FOV

Starfield is out in Early Access, and players are diving into this much-anticipated title. Now, if you are playing Starfield, you must have noticed that there is no option to change the in-game FOV. A game released in 2023 doesn’t have an FOV feature. Well, that’s a shame. However, there is a way to change the in-game FOV as per your preference. How? Well, continue reading this guide, as we will share all the details of changing the FOV in Starfield.

FOV, or Field of View, in a game determines how much of the in-game world you can see at once from your character’s perspective. Adjusting the FOV in a game can benefit you by giving you more control over your viewing experience. A wider FOV can make the game world feel more expansive and immersive, especially on ultrawide monitors. Also, for players who suffer from motion sickness, an FOV slider is a must. Since there is no in-game option for this, you will have to resort to using a workaround.

Starfield How to change FOV

Now, there is a mod available for changing FOV in Starfield if you are familiar with the whole modding scene. But as you must know, modding comes with its own share of risks. If you are not careful about the process or end up using an incompatible mod, it can lead to issues with the game and, in the worst cases, with the system itself. So, we would not recommend this route. Instead, there is another method to change the FOV in the game. This method involved making changes to a .ini file. Now, if all of that sounds overwhelming, do not worry; we have got your back. Just follow the steps given below, and you will know exactly how to change the FOV in Starfield.

  • First, open the “Documents” folder on your PC. You can usually find it in the left-hand sidebar of File Explorer.
  • Inside the “Documents” folder, look for a folder called “My Games” and open it.
  • Inside the “My Games” folder, right-click in an empty space and choose “New” and then “Text Document”.
  • Rename the newly created text document to “StarfieldCustom.ini”. Make sure to change the file extension from “.txt” to “.ini”.
  • Now, right-click on the “StarfieldCustom.ini” file and choose “Edit” or open it with a text editor like Notepad.
  • In the “StarfieldCustom.ini” file, type the following lines to adjust your FOV settings:
    • [Camera]
    • fFPWorldFOV=120
    • fTPWorldFOV=120

Note: You can change the “120” to your desired FOV value. This setting is in degrees, and a higher value will give you a wider field of view.

  • After making your changes, save the “StarfieldCustom.ini” file.
  • Now, you can right-click on the file, and select the Read-Only attribute to make sure that the game doesn’t alter the setting.
  • After this, launch Starfield and check whether the FOV is changed.

Now, when you play Starfield, the FOV should be adjusted according to the values you set in the “StarfieldCustom.ini” file. Feel free to experiment with different FOV values until you find the one that suits your preferences best.

Mod

Well, for those feeling adventurous enough to try out a mod, here is the link to the mod we mentioned earlier. After downloading the mod, copy the .ini file (provided with the mod) and paste it into the following path: Documents/MyGames/Starfield. After this, launch the game.

Well, those are the two methods to change the FOV in Starfield. We hope you find this guide informative. For more gaming reads like this, make sure to visit DigiStatement regularly.
