Developed by FromSoftware, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon came out on August 25th, 2023. However, the launch of AC6 on PC hasn’t gone as smoothly as the players and the developers would’ve preferred. There are several errors and bugs that are troubling players, and they’re actively searching for fixes. Players are repeatedly facing stuttering and crashing issues in the game, which has become a serious problem. To some degree, it all boils down to some key factors, such as the visual experience, the sounds, the action sequences, and, of course, the gameplay. However, beyond everything else, a game must run smoothly for it to be a fan favorite. Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon Low FPS & Stuttering Issues: How to Fix?
If you’re facing stuttering problems in Armored Core 6, try out the following workarounds to fix the problem.
Lower the graphics settings
While it’s fun to play the game with maxed-out graphics, it may not be the wisest choice if you’re facing low FPS and stuttering. You should try changing the in-game graphic settings to low or medium and check if the stuttering continues. You should also try and disable the “Auto Detect Best Rendering” option from the Graphics Settings menu. Also, apply the following changes to the Quality Settings menu:
- Resolution: Your Display’s Native Resolution
- Screen Mode: Fullscreen
- HDR: Off
- Auto-Detect Best Rendering Settings: OFF
- Quality Settings: Custom
- Frame Limit: 60 FPS
- V-Sync: Ong
- Textures: Medium
- Antialiasing: Medium/High
- Motion blur: This one depends on your personal preference.
- SSAO: Medium
- Depth of field: Medium
- Shadow quality: Low
- Lighting quality: Medium
- Effects Quality: Medium.
- Volumetric fog quality: Low
- Reflection quality: Low
- Water surface quality: Low
- Ray tracing: Off
Launch in Windowed or Fullscreen mode
- Open Steam and go to your Steam Library.
- Locate Armored Core 6 from the list of installed games, and right-click on it.
- Click on Properties from the drop-down menu, and go to the “Launch Options” tab.
- In the Launch Option parameter text box, type “-fullscreen“. This would run the game in the Fullscreen mode. However, if you still keep getting the stuttering issue, you have to try and run the game in Windowed mode.
- To run the game in Windowed mode, follow the first three steps, and then, type “-windowed“.
- Run the game and see if the issue persists.
Update GPU drivers
- Open the Quick Link Menu by pressing Windows + X keys together.
- Open Device Manager and then go to Display Adapters.
- Locate your dedicated GPU and a right-click on it.
- Click on the “Update Driver” option.
- Finally, select the “Automatically search for drivers” option and let Windows search for the latest driver updates and install it.
Note: You can also download the driver update from the support software of your GPU manufacturer. Otherwise, you can download it from your GPU manufacturer’s official website.
Disable hyperthreading in BIOS
- To access your BIOS settings, turn your PC off first. Then, restart it, and when it boots up, press the relevant key to access the BIOS. Different manufacturers assign different keys to access the BIOS menu, so you will have to find the designated key for your device.
- Once in the BIOS menu, locate the Processor menu and then navigate to this tab.
- Click on Properties from the context menu. From the list of options, disable Hyperthreading and head to the Exit menu.
- Click on the “Exit Saving Changes” option to save your BIOS settings.
- Next, run the game and see if the issue persists.
Drag another window over your game
Multiple players have reported that dragging another window over the game can help reduce stuttering. So, run the game in Windowed Fullscreen mode and once it launches, open another application, preferably Chrome. Open Chrome in windowed mode and drag it over your game. Apparently, this will literally double your FPS and lower the stuttering.
Use Process Lasso
- For this particular fix, you need to download and install the Process Lasso software first. You can download it from here. When the software is installed, launch it on your PC.
- Go back to the Steam client and launch Armored Core 6.
- Now, return to Process Lasso. You should be able to find the armoredcore6.exe file under the Active Processes tab.
- Right-click on this tab, and from the drop-down menu, select CPU Sets.
- Click on Always, and then from the newly opened menu, check the box corresponding to every CPU option except CPU 0.
- Click on OK, and then run the game.
- This should fix the low FPS & stuttering issues.
Turn On VSync
A lot of players have reported that turning on Vsync fixed the stuttering issue for them. So, if you are still encountering the problem, head to the in-game Graphics menu and make sure to turn the VSync option to On.
