Larian Studios, the Belgian video game development studio behind the Divinity series, has been on the receiving end of wide praise and recognition ever since the release of their latest title, Baldur’s Gate 3. A game more than three years in the making, it finally saw its official release on August 3, 2023, for Windows. Larian does have plans for other platforms and has already confirmed a September 6 release date for the PlayStation version. The studio’s dedication to the game and expertise in the CRPG genre proved quite helpful, as Baldur’s Gate 3 is both a financial and critical success. While the game is quite a technical marvel, some players seem to have encountered a myriad of annoying bugs. One of them is where Halsin doesn’t appear in Druid Grove.
For the uninitiated, Halsin is a Druid Wood Elf. He’s a potential companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 and is found at the Worg Pens at the Shattered Sanctum. The goblins have imprisoned him there, and to recruit him, players need to defeat his captors. But this is where the issue arises. After killing the goblin leaders, he will tell you to meet him back at Druid Grove, but due to this bug, he will be either at your camp or back at the Worg Pens. Furthermore, there’s another instance of this bug where Halsin simply gets stuck in a dialogue spree, which results in the quest not advancing. That’s why we have prepared this guide so that you can get rid of this bug and enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 the way it is supposed to be.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Halsin Missing Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet
Currently, we don’t have any kind of official fix or effective workaround for this issue as of yet. So, until Larian releases an official fix, we suggest you follow the workarounds mentioned here.
Load a previous save –
The most obvious thing to do when you encounter this bug is to simply load a previous save. Do so, and before talking to him, you should visit your camp and take a long rest. Once that’s done, approach Halsin, defeat the goblin leaders, and check whether the same bug occurs again.
Ask Halsin to wait before the fight with the goblin leaders –
Another workaround to deal with this bug is to load a previous save and then ask Halsin to wait before you go fight the three goblin leaders. Once all three goblins are defeated, tell him about that, and he will head for the grove.
Force Skip Dialogues –
To fix the dialogue bug, you can either press right-click on your mouse or the space key on your keyboard. Skipping the dialogue is your best option when it comes to solving this issue. However, if you really want to know what dialogues you skipped, you can check those in History.
Try different dialogue choices –
Some players have suggested trying different dialogue choices if possible. Save scumming is the name of the game here, so you wouldn’t have much trouble trying out different dialogue options. Just remember to save before you approach Halsin.
Perform a restart –
Sometimes all you need is a quick restart. Now, we can’t outright say that this will most definitely fix the bug, but there’s really no downside to this workaround, so give it a try. Restart the game, and then check if Halsin appears in Druid Grove.
Update BG3 –
Players are also highly recommended to update Baldur’s Gate 3 if they haven’t already done so. Larian has already released hotfixes for the game, and more will be coming in the near future. So, make sure to install the latest update and see if the issue persists.
That said, we hope the provided workarounds help you fix this issue in BG3. For more guides such as this, keep checking out DigiStatement. Also, read: Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3): How to change/customize Dice Skin
