Larian Studios’ latest title, Baldur’s Gate 3, once again proves that games can stand on their own without any kind of microtransactions stuffed into them. Released on August 3, 2023, for Windows, it’s now the third-top game on Steam, with an all-time peak of over 800K players. It’s safe to say that Larian has done justice to the Baldur’s Gate series with the release of BG3. Boasting a massive, expansive world, some players are unable to find certain places and items in the game. One such place is the Adamantine Forge.
Due to the sheer size of Baldur’s Gate 3, completing the whole game can take a huge amount of time. The game is filled to the brim with quests, discoverable locations, and a variety of enemies and companions. So, it’s understandable that locating the Adamantine Forge can be a tough challenge for some. But why is it important? Well, all equipment forged in the Adamantine Forge will be of adamantine quality, which makes the wearer immune to critical hits. Quite interesting, right? And so, here’s a guide explaining how you can get access to it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Adamantine Forge: How to get, find, & use
In order to find the Adamantine Forge, players will need to go to the Underdark biome first. The game offers you several ways to get to the Underdark biome, so don’t worry about not being able to access it. You can:
- Head to the Goblin Camp and solve a puzzle in the Defiled Temple located there.
- Go and take a dive underneath Auntie Ethel’s teahouse.
- Navigate to the Whispering Depths dungeon and navigate through a pit there.
- Travel to Zhentarim Hideout and access Underdark from there.
All four of the aforementioned ways can be used to get to the Underdark biome. After reaching it, head straight for the Beach. If you are having trouble locating it, open your map, and on the right side of the screen, you will see all the Waypoints mentioned, including “Underdark Beach”. Once you arrive at the beach, you will see a big boat at the dock. Take it, and later on, you will arrive at the Grymforge. You are now halfway done with your journey to find the Adamantine Forge.
Next, open your map, and you will notice that the southern section of the map is filled with lava rivers. That’s where you need to be. With your allies, go to the southern section of Grymforge. When you arrive there, you will find several gnomes doing their best to save an NPC named Nere. Ignore them for now. Rather, you need to go to the left side of the area. A fallen statue of Shar will be there, along with a small patch of rock. Command one of your allies to either teleport, jump, or fly to get to the rock platform located above. Once that’s done, give them another command to move forward so that they can reach the Adamantine waypoint. Discovering the Adamantine waypoint will now allow the rest of your party to teleport there.
Enemy Encounter
When you reach the waypoint, a combat encounter will commence. Defeat all of the enemies, and don’t forget to collect the Mace, Scale, and Splint Armor molds lying around. After doing that, head southeast, where you will come across a set of downward steps. These steps will lead you to the Adamantine Forge. However, before you interact with the forge, there’s one more task you need to finish, i.e., get a Mithral Ore.
Players will be able to find one Mithral Ore west of the Adamantine Forge. You just have to jump across the lava river, defeat the enemies, and you will be successfully able to get the Mithral Ore. Now, it’s time for you to head back to the Adamantine Forge.
Use the Adamantine Forge
Once you reach the Adamantine Forge, you will notice three things –
- Ejection Lever
- Crucible
- Mold Ejection Lever
Start by interacting with the crucible and inserting the Mithral Ore into it. Next, click on the mold chamber and put one of the molds from before in it. Now, press the lever located on the back of the platform, which will lead to the hammer pressing down on the crucible. The forge will start descending on the lava below, and after it settles on it, go to the opposite side of the platform to pull the lava lever.
Defeating the Grym
After doing so, a Grym will appear, and you will have to defeat it. At a glance, this boss has no weaknesses, but there’s a way to kill it. What you need to do is first make it Superheated. You can do so by ensuring that it’s always in the lava. After that, order two of your allies to do the following:
- One ally needs to get into the mold chamber.
- Another ally should be near the lever that made the platform descend.
Once you do the aforementioned tasks, further command the ally in the mold chamber to attack the Grym, causing the boss to eventually stand on the circular crucible platform. Now, order the ally near the lever to pull it. The forge hammer will drop on the Grym, damaging it. This is how you need to defeat the Grym. Do note that there needs to be lava around; otherwise, you will do no damage to the boss.
After defeating the boss, go to the mold chamber and collect your weapon or armor. You can forge more gear considering you have the required mold and Mithral Ore.
