Suffice it to say, Pikmin 4 is another success for Nintendo. One of the many things that make Pikmin 4 such a fun title is its engaging gameplay and various modes. Unlocking the Night Mode in Pikmin 4 can be a challenging task for some players, but by the end of this guide, you will know everything there is to know about it.
How to unlock Night Mode in Pikmin 4?
The Night Mode, or Night Expedition, can be unlocked in Pikmin 4 by rescuing Yonny. In case you don’t know who Yonny is, he is one of the many castaways in the game and is the Rescue Corps Doctor. To rescue him, you will need to head to the sixth underground cave on Sun Speckled Terrace. Once you find Yonny, carry him back to the SS Beagle, and the quest will be marked as completed.
After Yonny is rescued, interact with him, and he will talk to you about Leaflings and Glow Sap. After this, Night Mode or Night Expedition will be unlocked for you. In these missions, players will only be able to take Oatchi and Glow Pikmin with them to defend the Lumiknoll. By completing Night Expeditions, players will be able to gather Glow Saps, which are used for the purpose of turning Leaflings right back to their normal forms. This recovery of Leaflings in return will award you with Pup Drive points, which are used to unlock and upgrade various skills of your cute little Oatchi. Some tips for Night Mode/Expeditions are:
- Since Glow Pikmin will be your bread and butter for this mode, you should focus on increasing their numbers first. Collect as many glow pellets as you can so that your Glow Pikmin army can expand.
- Night Expeditions take place in the same area as Day Expeditions. So, it’s recommended that you remove obstacles during the day for an easier Night Expedition.
- Always check the mini-map. You can never know what enemy might spawn or how it will attack unless you frequently check the mini-map.
- Have Oatchi guard Lumiknolls. This way, you can safely explore other areas without having to worry about an enemy attacking them.
