Remnant 2 Resolution Not Changing Issue: Is there any fix yet

Fans of 2019’s Remnant: From the Ashes game can now enjoy its sequel, Remnant 2. Released on July 25, 2023, the game is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. There is no news on a Nintendo Switch port, though. Once again, incorporating the third-person action shooter style with souls-like elements, Remnant 2 offers a great experience for players who want to try something new rather than the usual melee combat featured in souls-like games. Players are certainly having a great time in Remnant 2, as evidenced by its initial reception, but the game does have some issues. One of them is the “resolution not changing” issue.

If you are unable to change the in-game resolution in Remnant 2, you don’t really need to worry. Just like any other technical problem in the game, it’s fixable. And so, here’s a guide with workarounds that will help you get rid of the “resolution not changing” issue in the game.

Restart Remnant 2 –

Before we deal with more complex workarounds, we would like to recommend that you do a quick restart of the game. While this doesn’t guarantee that it will fix this issue, it’s still a tried-and-tested basic workaround. In case the issue still persists, you can follow the next workaround.

Access in-game Settings –

Go to the Options menu of Remnant 2, and select the Video tab. Here, make sure that the Display Mode is set to Exclusive Fullscreen. Now, you can change the in-game resolution using the Resolution option right below the Display Mode setting.

Edit the config files –

A big benefit of playing games on a PC is that you can mess around with almost all the files and folders of any game. The same is true with Remnant 2. Players can try to edit the config files to deal with this issue. Now, if you don’t know where the game’s config files are, then:

  • Open the Windows File Explorer and go to the C drive.
  • Next, select the folder named – Users.
  • Inside this new folder, you will see some folders, along with one that’s named as your username. For the purpose of this guide, we will call it – JohnDoe.
  • Now, open the JohnDoe folder, and find the AppData folder inside it.
  • Open the AppData folder and select Local.
  • Once opened, click on the subfolder named Remnant 2 > Saved > Config > Windows > GameUserSettings. This is the config file.
  • Open it using Notepad and edit the game’s resolution setting. If you find any command related to Display Mode, make sure to change it to Full Screen.

Update Graphics Drivers –

One of the reasons you might be facing this issue is that you simply have not updated your graphics drivers. When it comes to games, it’s imperative that you download the latest available graphics drivers. So, head over to the official website of your GPU manufacturer and get the drivers from there. Install it and run the game.

Check minimum requirements –

For some players, the issue could be due to their systems simply not meeting the minimum requirements to run the game. While Remnant 2 is certainly not a demanding game like CP2077, it still requires some good hardware to be able to run smoothly. Check the minimum requirements below and see if your PC possesses that kind of power.

  • OS: Win 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1650 / AMD Radeon RX 590
  • Storage: 80 GB available space

Redownload –

If nothing else works, then your best choice would be to uninstall the game, and install it again. Now, if you are okay with this, don’t forget to save your progress, either through cloud saves or by making a local backup.
