The recent boom of cultivation games in the past five years has been a blessing for fans of the genre. Tale of Immortal is an open-world sandbox cultivation game developed by the Chinese video game development studio Ghost Valley. The game was recently made available on Steam on May 26, 2023. Before that, it was under Steam’s early access program. While Tale of Immortal is certainly a fun cultivation game, it does have some issues. For starters, players have reported encountering launch issues in the game on their systems.
Despite being in early access for two years, Tale of Immortal is still lacking in some areas. There are a good number of optimization issues with it, along with the game not being completely localized in English. However, the developers seem to be working hard on all these and are communicating such problems with the community. But what about this game not launching error? Is there a fix yet? Let’s find out!
Tale of Immortal Game Not Launching Error: Is there any fix yet
You would be happy to know that the developers are aware of this particular issue and have provided some potential fixes. However, there could be some fixes that might not work for you but for others. As such, we recommend you follow the given methods individually and see which one is useful.
Verify integrity of files –
Steam has this nifty little feature where you can check if a game has missing or corrupted files. To start, open Steam and navigate to Library. Next, look for “Tale of Immortal” and right-click on it. Select Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of game files. Wait until the process is entirely complete.
Rename “installdir” “鬼谷八荒” to “installdir” “TOI” –
Another workaround given by devs is to rename a file. To do so, close Steam first. Next, go to this path -Steam’s installation directory/steamlib/steamapps. There, you will find a file named “appmanifest_1468810.acf”. Open it with a text editor. In it, rename the line – “installdir” “鬼谷八荒” to “installdir” “TOI”.
After renaming the line, go to another path – Steam’s Installation directory/steamlib/steamapps/common. There, rename the game folder “鬼谷八荒” to “TOI”. Try verifying the integrity of game files after this. And lastly, launch the game to see if the error still persists.
Enable the UFT-8 language supports in Windows –
You can also enable UFT-8 language support if you haven’t already. And it’s pretty easy to turn on. Just open Control Panel from the Start menu, and then select the Region option. There will be two tabs to choose from: Formats and Administrative. In this case, you need to select the Administrative tab. At the bottom, click on the “Change system locale..” button. A new mini-window will open called “Region Settings”. Again, at the bottom, you will see an option “Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support” with a checkbox beside it. Check the option, click OK, and you are done.
Download the latest version of Melon Loader –
If you are using mods in the game via Melon Loader, this might be the reason why the game is failing to launch properly. So, to fix this, you need to download the latest version of Melon Loader and replace the files with the existing ones in the game’s directory.
Redownload Tale of Immortal –
If nothing else works, redownloading the game is your best option. Uninstall the game, go back to Steam > Library, and download the game again.
We do hope that this guide has helped you in fixing the game not launching error in Tale of Immortal. For more guides and info on TOI, follow DigiStatement.
