Honkai Star Rail has finally opened up its servers today for players from all around the world. Fans have been waiting eagerly for this title. The Chinese video game development studio has many eyes focused on it after the massive success of its open-world action RPG, Genshin Impact. It can be fairly summarised that miHoYo(HoYoverse) has rightfully mastered the art of mobile game creation, as evidenced by the sheer amount of GI’s popularity and equally impressive revenue. Honkai: Star Rail is the next title from the studio and it wouldn’t be surprising at all if it also becomes a successful venture as well. As good as miHoYo is at making high-quality games, they are also quite notorious for their ability to poorly optimize their games. Genshin has its fair share of problems and from the looks of it, Star Rail does too. Players on mobile have been reporting that they are facing lag during cutscenes along with some stuttering issues. That’s not the kind of issue one wants to encounter on their playthrough.
miHoYo’s games have always been story heavy. From Honkai Impact 3rd’s gut-wrenching narrative to Genshin Impact’s mysterious and intriguing plot, the studio certainly knows its craft when it comes to stories. And Honkai: Star Rail is no different. A sci-fi turn-based RPG, it’s the fourth installment in the long-running Honkai series. As you can guess, the story isn’t in the backseat here. That’s why when things like cutscenes lag and stuttering occurs, it annoys people. So, are there any workarounds to this issue? Let’s find out.
Honkai Star Rail Cutscenes Lag & Stuttering Issues: Is there any fix yet
Restart the game –
This is one of the simplest methods to fix an issue. Restarting can be highly effective but it also depends upon the severity of an issue. Since you are facing just a cutscene lag and stuttering problem, it might fix it. Wait a minute or two before starting the game again though.
Clear Cache –
Clearing the cache can also prove to be a possible solution. To do so, head over to your Settings > App Management > Honkai: Star Rail > Storage > Clear Cache. Your phone may differ on the naming schemes and location but this is generally how you clear the cache for any game.
Redownload the game –
We recommend you do this only if you start encountering more bugs and errors. Redownloading the game will lead to a fresh download of all the previous files after uninstallation. It also comes in handy, when you got a file missing or something like that.
Set your graphics to either low or very low-
If your phone is not powerful enough then it can be a cause behind your current issue. Safe to say, it is better to switch your graphics settings to low rather than keeping it on either very high, high, or medium. Just open the Settings menu of the game by clicking on the mobile-looking icon and then selecting the settings icon. Next, you will see the Graphics settings option. Click on the first option – Graphics Quality. Set the quality to either low or very low and then start your playthrough.
Update the game –
Like any other game, Star Rail also receives regular updates and patches. The devs will surely release patches to get these issues fixed, so make sure that the game is running on its latest version.
Close all other apps –
If you have got some background apps running or if you happen to be multitasking with your phone while simultaneously playing Honkai: Star Rail, it’s recommended that you don’t do so. Although this doesn’t apply to phones with powerful chipsets, your underpowered mobile can only do so much without encountering lags and such. In this situation, close all other apps and then run Honkai Star Rail.
We will be sure to update this guide, once miHoYo releases an official fix for this issue. Meanwhile, don’t forget to check out DigiStatement for more guides like this.
